I am looking at getting a JK with the eventual goal of performing a hemi swap on it. I have been targeting a 2012 or newer, as I understand I can use the same transmission with a torque converter. However, I have a 2006 chrysler 300c that has a 5.7 hemi in it. My question is, would I be able to use the transmission out of the Chrysler as well, or do I need to look for a specific transmission? I am seeing that the devaluation of pre 2012 JKs is much more than post 2012, and if I am trying to engine swap anyway, if I have a transmission that would already work with a 2007-2011, I am thinking I might be best to go that route. Interested to know if I am being overly optimistic in the swapability of parts.

If you go post 2012, Id use the stock W5A-580.

But before you drop the hemi in, delete the MDS.

If I ever decided to swap my JK, id price out an LS vs Cummins R2.8.
