Awww, hood flutter again. I've never heard of anyone's hood being blown off. If you are worried about the hood flutter, there are some easy fixes. Remove the hood spring or replace the latches with something better.

never heard of off...have heard seen pics where it has blown back/ up and dented itself on windshield frame.....2 different instances a couple years back.....I replaced my latches on my TJ at that time they were about 6 years old....heard the spring thing helps also.....

you don't know how i cringe when there's a strong headwind and i'm doing 70+ :doh: it flutters so bad that I try to not look at it at all, otherwise it captures all of my attention.

They are out there but they are not cheap and have seen mixed reviews on here about how well they work......I went with the Kentrol black stainless for the TJ

The soft top makes me way more nervous than the hood. All that creaking, squeaking, rattling, flopping, rear sides bowed in by the airflow... I'm just waiting for it to fly off like a parachute.

The first time you experience hood flutter, the driver's seat might turn brown. Buy the hood wranglers mentioned above. They're on for 2 years now, and a bonus- you get a serious bicep workout latching your hood.

Remove the spring and stick some tie straps around your factory straps. Just snug enough that you can still use them, but still won't let them stretch when a big truck or big gust happens.. Cost... 10 cents.

That's why I put up a picture..... The tie strap doesn't let the band stretch when a big gust comes up.....thus no hood flutter.

It's just wrapping a tie strap around your hood latch to the point where it is loose enough that you can still open the latch, but tight enough that it won't stretch in the wind.

Here's a closer look so you can see what I'm talking about from a different Jeep thread, but I put the little fastener latch on the inside so it looks a little more 'stock' and clean.

I hope this explains it better. I would have bought the daystrs, but shipping to Canada makes them $95. I'll stick with the tie strap mod till I make it across the border.
