Alright so Im 16, I live in Miami FL, and got my Jeep back in May of '13 for my birthday. I just never got around to starting a thread until now, so here goes. I had been searching craigslist for Jeeps for about a year, and never found one until about a few days before I turned 16. Some poor woman tried to cut across busy 6 lane US1 against traffic to go the opposite direction, when her tiny Kia got t-boned by an F-150. She was ejected and it resulted in a traffic homicide blah blah blah. My father is the commander of a Police Department, and went across the street to the Dodge, Chrysler, Jeep dealership to see if any of the mechanics saw anything. What would be sitting there but a beautiful 2005 Wrangler X 4.0 with standard tranny, a 2+2 lift, 33's, a winch, and a soft top. So the next day my dad took me over there to see if I liked it, and boy did I! My dad talked to the owner of the dealership and found out that the P.O. of the Jeep is the diff mechanic there, but had some leg surgeries and cant drive stick anymore. We were able to take it home for the weekend for an "extended test-drive." We soon learned that the alternator was shot, but after you gave it a jump it ran and drove better than any of my friend's. After some negotiation my father shelled out the $12,800 and it was mine, with a new alternator and battery. I guess thats what not growing up with an allowance pays for in the long run...
Any way the first thing I just had to do was throw some stickers on and I was happy. Around Novemberish I blacked out my headlight bezels and got some of those clear turn signals, made a huge improvement in the front end's appearance.I had voiced my discontent with the ugly tube bumpers for quite some time, and so for Christmas I got the warn rock crawler bumper. Anyway, my dad's 401k plan ended with 2013, and so now the 100 bucks every 2 weeks is going to start coming to me, which means i can start spending more than christmas and birthday money on my Jeep.
I guess you could say I'm one of those kids whose dad pays for everything, but I'm not gonna complain. If you feel like making some smartass comment about it, you really don't need to. I get that its not cool to be 'sponsored' by my parents, so you don't have to tell me about it. Im looking for good solid advice, and I'm looking towards doing my sound system soon.
I'll post pictures as soon as I figure out how to lol.

My bad dude, I didn't think it would come off like that. I just didn't know all the other details, so I used the blahs to finish the sentence, not to make the incident seem boring or unimportant.

New Bumper! Repainted the front of the frame and the winch plate with satin black to hide some rust and match the new bumper. Cant weight until my next birthday for the rear, and maybe the tire carrier... Fingers crossed! If anyones interested in a bent up and ratty old Smittybilt front bumper let me know. Ill let it go for what I can get in scrap or better.

Completely forgot to write about my first major mod. I bedlined the tub in the middle of the summer! The old carpet had gotten real wet because the P.O. cut out the inner rubber shifter boot so that the shifter would work. I figured that out after getting a new boot and than not being able to shift into 2nd,4th,6th, or reverse. Instead i just got the shifter bent at a machine shop, and now it works fine, and my tub is sealed. Anyway since the old boot was cut, water soaked into the carpet and my jeep smelled like wet dog and piss. My best friend and I picked a weekend in the middle of summer and ripped out the carpet and interior. We prepped the bed with water and dish soap. Then we scuffed it up with some wire brushes, and finally wiped it down with some lacquer thinner. I used that cheapo dupli-color bed armor stuff. I brushed on 4 light coats after figuring out the roller was worthless in this application. It kept raining so our weekend project turned into more like a 2 and a half weekend project. It didn't come out too bad, but the kevlar chunks are kind of annoying, and when ever one gets kicked off or whatever, it leaves bare metal behind. If its a really bad spot I just touch it up with the rattle can version. Other than that I don't have any complaints, and for Christmas I got the rubber matts from Quadratec so now its pretty much covered with them.

Does anybody have a suggestion for the speakers I should put in my dash? Im going with 5.25's and custom mounts. Anything for under a $100 and preferably American made. I was gonna go with the Alpine SPS-510's but they're made in China. JLs are way out of my price range for the most part as well.

Going to be hard to find a speaker made in the US. The JLs are also made in China.
The Focal's for my truck are made in France.
I run Kicker KS525 in my dash and sound bar. Very happy with them. Made in China.
I installed Infinity's in my buddy's TJ and they sound good as well. Likely made in China.

Someone in another thread was mentioning Memphis Audio. I'd never heard of them before but they supposedly have made in USA speakers. Seems worth a look. Quite a bit of Memphis on ebay, not sure if those are knock-offs or not.

I have JL component 5.25s in my dash and soundbar plus some 4" ones in my sky pod and there is no better sound then these. Plus they come with tweeters so it's pretty damn loud. Worth the money

Ok so after talking with some friends at school today and looking in to the other companies suggested above, I've decided to go with the Alpine SPS-510's. Reviews from people on Crutchfield say that they are great. A few had Wranglers, so I figured I must be looking into the right speakers. The only con that seemed to keep sprouting up was that they had no bass and that I would need a sub, which I was planning on getting anyway. Im gonna go with the Pioneer DEH-X3600UI for my head-unit, Bazooka MAC6502C's for my sound bar, and either two 8 inch shallow mount subs or one 10 / 12 inch in a custom box for the backseat. With this kind of a setup Im not sure what kind of amp to get. Any suggestions?

It's Better to get a 5 channel so you can run the speakers and sub to it

I would suggest the Alpine Power Pack 4 channel amp for your speakers. 45w RMS and ties right into your headunit. The amp fits behind the dash and is a perfect power match for most 5.25" speakers.

That leaves you free to run a single mono block sub amp, which is typically going to be small enough to mount/hide under the steering column. Look on CF at the Alpine mono amp for [email protected], [email protected] Plenty of power.

Ok so I bought some 6.5" marine speakers from Bazooka, and I put them in my sound bar. They sound pretty good. The only issue I came across was that the passenger side rattles almost as bad as the old blown JL that was in there before. I think I'm gonna throw some pink panther insulation in there and see if it helps. Other than that they sound great, and even though they're white instead of black, I feel it makes it look more different in a good way. Everyones got black speakers, but mine set a nice contrast against the black top and speaker boxes. When I put them in, I did have to cut away the inner ring of the speaker boxes to fit them in, except for where the screw holes were. They fit like a globe after about 2 hours of sawinh at an awkward angle lol.

My dad recently brought to my attention the condition of my grill. Yeah its got a bunch of road rash on it, but it hasn't reached bare metal yet (no rust). Anyway, it got me thinking about repainting it and such for preventative reasons. I saw this picture on Instagram, and thought "Hey, it'd be cool to do something like that" so I mocked up something real quick with photoshop. What do yall think? Im also gonna see what it looks like with a stickerbomb overlay. I'll put that up later. Im just looking for opinions/ideas right now.
