I haven't tried yet as I don't have the VIN handy, but the site says vehicles built before 1998 are not eligible for that functionality.
Just sayin'.

Jeep Options

If all else fails, on the drivers side floor under the carpet, between the drivers door and the drivers seat, roll the carpet back and there should be a "fender tag option plate". if it is readable, the metal plate will have codes ex.(A95, B02, J36 ) etc. These are the options your Jeep came with from the factory. You can "Google" the codes (Jeep A95) and see what you have. There is also a secondary identical tag underneath the front bumper if you lay on your back and look. More than likely it will be rusted but possibly readable. Hope this helps.
