New guy here. Finally at a point where I can have a Jeep.

I've been looking at CJ, YJ, TJ, trying to find "THE ONE".

I know this is almost an impossible question to answer with many variables.
Most Jeeps I see are not one owner Jeeps with the seller having no service records from the past.
Most of these look good inside & out and advertise as "runs good with no check engine lights".

Some CJ's are unknown miles and I get that.
I'm also seeing YJ's & TJ's approaching 200,000 miles. A few are above 200K.

Is there a mileage point where big ticket items like engine and drive train components are near their limit no matter how well maintained?

I'm not a mechanic but I can turn a wrench.

Thanks!

When I started looking for a TJ, I was hoping for under 150k.
I ended up trading for mine, and it had 162k. Up to 183k now and she runs great.
But, once you start getting much over 175k, things like cooling system, u joints, unit bearings, steering etc, are all fairly worn.

Main thing to check is the frame condition. Look for rot near the control arm mounts.

I agree with Shark. My feelings is as long as you have a good strong foundation all the other mechanical stuff can be fixed.
