Theres a 2001 with soft top full doors that my neighbor has but its wrecked. Front end collision. The frame is bent so im guessing the tubs no good. It has a nice 4.0 transmission and t-case in it good rearend etc. I was wondering how much you guys would pay for it. I have a yj but my aunt has a tj in need of some help and id like his wheels and tires haha. But how much would you pay for it? Thanks ahead of time guys.
Before you get into it, look at the transfer case input going to the front axle...because the tj has lower control arms, they don't give and usually bend the axle housings and trash the input on the transfer case and crack the case itself, almost always in any front end collision that does frame damage. That is why I won't rebuild a tj...yj's are more forgiving in a wreck on the housings because of the leaf springs...
Alright thanks for the tips guys. I'll go take a look with my aunt and check everything over again. Tarby thanks for the heads up on the t-case. The main reason my aunt wants it is for the transmission hers blew up so she only can drive the jku between her and my uncle. I just want the wheels and tires. Thanks again everyone.
No problem...seen a lot of tjs smacked in the front and every one has a bent front axle housing and cracked transfer case. Main reason they are totalled out...insurance don't wanna pay for new axle housing and transfer case casings...and most used ones they cannot "guarantee" for the repairs to the customers and they get a bad rep for it.
