Hey, I have a stock '03 wrangler 4.0 and I am in the market for new tires and wheels. I am also planning on lifting it in the very near future. I just don't really want to fork out the money for both at the same time. So I was thinking about getting my tires first then later, lifting it. Could I fit 33's on it without rubbing? Thanks...

31"s is the limit - some people do squeeze 33"s on stock height, but it looks rediculous (there's like 1/2" of fenderwell clearance), and it's not long before the fender flares are completely worn down.

If you want to run 33"s for cheap - what you can do is install a Budget Boost (2" spacers with new shocks - runs about 190 bucks or so), and a 1" body lift. this would give you 3" of lift total - and is enough to clear 33"s.

I agree with BlueBoy, and JeepCrawler98. I rub my fenders with a 4" suspension lift and running 33" tires. But I have also freed up my front end by installing Currie Antirocks.

The currie anti-rocks really free things up and I don't have rubbing in the front or rear, with a 33 x 12.5 tire. It depends though on what you want to do with your rig, are you going to use for rock crawling, mud, or sand?

Most of my off road time will be spent in the sand. I think I will go with a pretty wide tire. Maybe 12.5" something that will flatten out good so I don't sink in the sand. Looks will be pretty important too. I don't want it to look stupid. Sounds like I will be storing the tires and wheels in my garage till I can afford the lift.

I have 4"lift and run 33x9.5......you can see it's close with an occasional rub, depending on the obsticle, but you won't have to worry about that with sand

(no snickers about my skinny tires - they work well for me)
