I was told I have a 4" lift and when my jeep was next to a jeep whose owner said they had a 4" lift also, I noticed mine looked taller. We also have the same size tires. Either they actually have a 2" or I have 6". How do I find out what size lift I have?

you can measure the springs.. but if the springs are older, weight inside jeep, and other variables they could sag or screw your measurement. the final ride height and rate of a coil spring are affected by the wire diameter, the coil diameter, the number of turns (coils) in the spring, and the free length. heres a few I found.. take it with a grain of salt though,

Spring Coil Rates:

Tera 4" TJ coils give 4.5" of lift on an XJ and have a 200 lb/in rate , 20.25" tall unloaded
Tera 3" TJ coils give 3.5" of lift on an XJ and have a 170 lb/in rate
Rusty's 4.5" coils give 5" of lift and have a 150 lb/in rate, 22" tall unloaded
RE's 4.5" ZJ coils give 6"-6.25" of lift on an XJ and have a 200 lb/in rate, 22" tall unloaded
Rustys 3" coils give 3" and have 150 lb/in rate.
Rancho 3" coils, at least the old coils I had give about 2 1/4" of lift on an XJ and have a very high 235 lb/in rate.
OEM is supposedly 147 lb/in rate.
OME coils give 2.25" - 2.5" of lift and have a 148 lb/in rate

Is there something I can measure, like axle to somewhere that can tell me how much lift I have (or supposed to have)? My springs and shocks are kinda old (bought it used) and I want order new stuff, just don't know how to tell what I've got.

In theory, yes you could measure a lot of things. However theres a lot of variables that go into the ride height. I am not sure on the measurements of things. But comparing your jeep to a stock jeep may give you a good enough estimate to get new parts. Hopefully someone with more experience can chime in on this and give you some more help.

I called the vendor and was told to look for a part number on the springs. Sure enough there it was, the part number. From the number, he was able to determine I had a 6" long arm lift kit.

I was just about to ask this question. Turns out I have a 3 inch lift. I always thought it was only 2 inches. I bet most people have a bigger lift than they think they have.

So I was told they were 2" coils, the measuring tape says 13" total coil under pressure, guess it's giving me 1" of coil + 1" of spacer total.
