Hey guys,
I am a total noob on this so will greatly appreciate your help on this.
Recently my Rear Differential gave up so i went in and got it upgraded.
My jeep had an Open diff ( i am sure about it). and i got a limited slip put in there.
My question is how do i know (visually) that it was actually changed ?
I did not get any gear-ratios changed.
so would the differential (housing i guess, the one that we can see under the jeep) be shining and new or the old one would be reused.?

I am trying to figure out if i was $crewd over.

Thanks,

it would be INSIDE the diff.. they wouldnt change the diff or the axle housing out itself.. the changes would be in the carrier itself

Just the internals would be changed. What kind of LSD did they install for you? You can pop the differ cover off to get eyes on it and take a pic an post it... but if you do that you will have to spend some time redoing the seal and new fluid as well.

PHEW.. thanks guys, i am relieved, was scared that i might've been $crewed over..

Going to go in the snow over the weekend and test it out.. :)
will post some pics..

I think it was the Factory LSD. i forgot the name i think it was factory or one of the base models. it set me back around 280 for the diff.
tight on budget to get a better one. :(

Put the transmission in neutral, transfercase in 2wd, and the parking brake off. Jack up one rear tire making sure the other side is still on the ground. If you can easily spin the tire, it's an open diff. If its really hard or nearly impossible to spin, you've got a limited slip. It's a quick easy test that may give you some peace of mind.
