I have a 2011 Jeep Wrangler rubicon 2-dr with auto transmission. How can I tell if I have trak-loc? Alos what additive is required if you do have trak loc? What axle fluid do you recommend for an axle fluid change? Is trak loc in only the rear axle or both axles? Thanks!

The easiest way to check is to jack up the rear axle and turn one of the rear tires. If it turns easily and the other tire goes the opposite direction you either don't have it or it is completely worn out. If the tire is difficult to turn or the other wheel turns the same way you have it.

Trak loc, and other clutch type limited slip axles require that you use a limited slip additive to keep the clutches from chattering. You can get it at the dealer or any decent parts store.

For fluid go with a good synthetic in the recommended viscosity.

You will only have Trak Loc in the rear unless someone has added it aftermarket to the front.

You can go on jeep.com and sign up with your vin number and send a request to customer service asking for your build sheet. On my 2010 it shows up as DSA Anti-Spin Differential Rear Axle. Pretty sure it is only the rear diff. Don't know about the fluid.

:whistling: If you have an original RUBICON 2dr/4dr--you don't have Trac-Lok--

You have Tru-Lok, front/rear and you should use a good synthetic-

Most synthetics are 75w-90/w LSD addition (it won't hurt, but you don't needit)

I use Valvoline 75w-140 -

I looked at the sticker to my jeep and I found it says I have tru-lock electronic locking front and rear differentials. So I assume I just need a good synethic oild for them at 80W-90. All I can find in the local store is mobile 1 75w-90. I do not do any towing with the vehicle will I be set with only changing the axle fluid to 75w-90? I have the special pump and torque wrench and just need to buy the oil.

Also both axles are dana 44 so I assume they need more than my old jeep which had dana 30 and dana 44.

:whistling: Synthetic gear oils only come in 75w-90 or 75w-140, they don't sell 80w-90 (IDK)-

The front takes a little more than a QT, (1.35qt)and the rear 2 qts (2.375qts)-

Get royal Purple/valvoline/Mobile one/Amsoil--they're all OK !!

Didn't notice that it was a Rubicon, that makes it a lot easier to tell.
