How waterproof?

1099 Views 6 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  oldgus
Drove to work with no doors in the pouring rain and everything inside is soaked. I parked in a garage so hopefully it will be somewhat dry when income out in 9 hours, but how waterproof is the interior? Do I have anything to be worried about electrical damage or rust wise? I just have the standard stereo

You'll be fine. Did you pull the drain plugs? You're going to need to let the sun hit the carpet otherwise it will get a musty smell.
You really don't want the dash getting wet, those electronics are still electronics. I live in Florida and when I go doorless and windowless I can still put the top up so the dash doesn't get soaked. Good luck and let us know how it turned out.
I wouldn't think of it as "water-proof" but rather as "water-resistant", and the dash certainly isn't "water-proof". A friend of mine (base sport JK) recently got caught in a downpour for about 15 minutes with the top off. $1,200 later and the systems are all functioning again.
Well I did have the top on, but the mist from the rain on the road and other cars did get on the dash and radio, but everything was working when I was driving. Hopefully it continues to work haha. I am going to let my rear seats sit in the sun tomorrow and let the jeep sit in the driveway all day tomorrow as well as pull the drain plugs on my lunch today
For protection, I'd google the dashboard condom for your radio. I haven't tried it, but the reviews make it sound pretty good.

For your clock spring, there is a guy named Gus here on WF that makes a column cover that will take care of that. His username has a number on the end, but it can never remember it. He's posted a lot in the soft top help thread.

Thanks Star! Yep, that would be me. OP, you can check out my Column Cover thread by clicking the link in my sig. Shoot me a pm if you have any questions.
