I got bored waiting for the JL EcoDiesel so I got this to tide me over until the Unicorn finally makes an appearance.

1994 Jeep YJ

Very nice if you don't mind me asking how much was it
I paid $8900 but Jeeps are hard to price especially when modified. Stock KBB for my market area is $4500-7300 with $6500 average. I added up all the mods I would want out the gate and this one fell $4k under without labor. My goal was to find a decent mechanically sound turn-key so could hit the trails and not have to do a lot of wrenching. Haha, didn’t last—I have parts on order already (door seals, wipers, grab handles and such.)

My son's excitement was worth every penny. He's nicknamed it the "Bad A$$ Jeep" If only the driver was bad a$$ :worthy: still figuring out off-roading
with four wheels instead of two.

That's not to ridiculous with everything done it looks really clean

That's a good looking rig... I wouldn't trade it for two jl's unless I was gonna sell em and buy another one like it.

$8,900.00 seems like a lot of dough for a 25 year old vehicle until you consider the apparent good condition and the mods that you would have done to a $5000.00 Jeep in the same condition without the mods.

Once you start having fun with the current ride, a $50,000 - $60,000 JL EcoDiesel might not have the same appeal that it once did.
Plus, the YJ has an amount of "Cool" that the JL won't have until it's 25 years old (if it lasts that long).
How old is your son? Is he close to driving age? He might press you to buy the JL so that he can inherit using the YJ.

Post some more pics. We all like to see what the other guy has.

Agreed--the YJ is a blast!!

The idea was to have some fun on local trails until the EcoDiesel is finally released as I am looking to do some interstate, overland, and NP circuit trips. The JLU fits the bill for this.

My son is going on fourteen so yeah! Even Mom is siding with keeping the YJ for him. Since he is the one son that likes to wrench with me; I am leaning toward it being a nice surprise to hand him the keys when we gets his license--Assuming the YJ survives that long ;).

That is actually not bad for that condition. If everything is working good, saves you a lot of money fixing things, just enjoy it. Fun cost money too.

4.0/AX-15, A/C, nice hardtop, doors, and paint (presumably), a bunch of nice parts, that is a nice YJ for the money.

Nice YJ.
I fondly remember the 94 YJ Sport I bought new in 94. Great Jeep.
My wife actually drove it to work 110 miles a day.

Donncada that is a nice Jeep! It looks to be in great condition and with a new motor to boot. I’m doing the same with my thirteen year old son. But we got a cheap Jeep that was a diamond in the rough and is ending up to be a nice one after a lot of TLC and fiddling. We will have similar money into it when done so you saved on a lot of labor!

Yeah, the respray was done by the owner and amateurish at that--but not looking to enter beauty contest.

Awesome, after only three weeks ownership--we are already racking up a project list on the whiteboard. Some of which are just my OCD.

Yep, change all fluids from the front axle all the way to the back axle and everything in between. Just for a good starting point and piece of mind.

I wonder what it would cost to have it re-upholstered. The front seats look to be cloth and vinyl, but it's difficult to tell.
The back seat being a different color doesn't detract from the rest of the Jeep, but it stands out because the rest of the Jeep is so nice.

Yeah! "ready to go" was kinda the point or I would have hunted for an unmolested YJ and then of course spent way more money "upgrading". Is it a hundred percent to my liking?--No. But I'll learn a bit on someone else dime. The one thing I am struggling with are the Detroit Lockers front and rear.

The seats are a funny thing--and, yes the rear is a fold and tumble (already removed for camping gear)... I was actually looking to dump the race seats for OEM because I like original "looking".
But then, other jeepers that have taken it for a spin are like--keep the MasterCraft they keep you cradled. So it comes down to originality versus functionality . I think with this purchase folks know where I am going.

Gotta run.., Sean's YJ pucker factor and Project List to be continued...
