You shouldn't need to splice any wires if you still have your factory harness. Just go to any car stereo shop and by a wire harness. You can buy a wire harness for $20.00. That way you don't have to cut into your factory wiring. This will also allow you to plug your factory radio back in at a later time. It will also make for a much neater install.

Do what Blackjeep77 said... do yourself a favor a buy adapters...

I just replace my radio too and crutchfield send me the appropriated adapters... the installation was ridiculously simple..

I attached the page of my adapters... all the color matched with my original stereo... hope this work for you.

NOTE: AS THE NOTE BELOW SAID... THE COLORS MAY OR MAY NOT MATCH WITH THE COLORS OF YOUR STEREO... CHECK CAREFULLY BY FUNCTION

Ok.. my fault

- I was under the impression that 1997 and 1999 TJ has the same factory radio... mine had 2 connectors in the back.
- My new JVC stereo has only one connector in the back, therefore the 2 adapters worked perfect.

- For the functions in your factory radio... it doesn't have a sticker in some place (little one) showing you the pin functions? (same for the new one or in the manual)

Alternative... give the guys in crutchfield a call with you new stereo model and sure that they will set you up.

hope this help buddy

In the blaukpunt web site is the installation manual for your radio... they have an adobe document... in the last page they show your connectors.
look under "Support"... and then "car configurator"... and make a search by product name "CD51".... they have 2 models... the second or the third could be yours

shouldn't matter. The adapter harness plugs into your new head unit. The other end is plug and play to the factory harness. You just match colors on the adapter harness to your CD players harness. :)
ok, so i just got off the phone with crutchfield. they only have wire harness's that have two plug ins. my factory cassette stereo i pulled only has one plug in. they said they dont know why its like that and they are unfamilier with it.

here im gonna add a bunch of pictures of it.

MAYBE SOMEONE CAN HELP ME FIND A WIRE HARNESS THAT WILL WORK?'

could you detail the exact color of your cables?.... did you compare your color cables/functions with the image that I published for you before?... maybe it give you an idea.

also here http://www.blaupunkt.com/us/downloads_1.asp you can find the specifications of your radio but the document doesn't show the instructions or specifications for the connector.

here : http://carconf.blaupunkt.com/data/EA/7641290310001_EA_GB.pdf

are the specs for the US Model.... the connectors don't look like yours (neither the European model)... and pay attention to the note in page 218 under "Safety Instructions"... one of them say "DO NOT CONNECT THE VEHICLE'S PLUG CONNECTORS TO THE RADIO"... seems that yopu need an adapter provided by Blaupunkt directly.

you are looking at the wrong end. Look at the end coming off your CD player then follow it back into the dash. There are a couple more connectors. There should be 2 of them. So just trace your wires back farther. The aftermarket adapters do not plug into that plug in your picture. The factory harness will have 2 female ends :)
