Just a question here, I have read about the linkage breaking. Any reason it would fail sooner or later? does turning off ignition whith wheels turned put stress on the part? I have 84K miles on my 98 TJ. My wife drives it at times, and I dont want here stranded. I don't mind replaceing ahead of time if there is a "wear" factor involved (milage/time/starts) any over a certain milage getting ready to go? Thanks for your replies.

It's an inexpensive part and easy to replace. I had to do mine a couple of months ago. I also have a 98. It would be good preventative maintenance to change it out. Dorman part# 924-704.
