When I went to crank my wrangler to leave this morning, it cranked right up. But the speedo, tac, and all the lights did not work at all. The windshield wipers would not turn as well. The radio worked fine though. A few days before all this, I had to be jumped up because I left my lights on while I was fishing. But since then it has ran fine. I googled the issue and some said undo battery for 20m. Some said just the neg or pos (can't remember) but I just undid both. Let it sit for 35m and since then I havn't had a issue. I have only made a 30m trip to town with my dog ricin shotgun but it seems to be ok now. Just wanted to post this and see if anyone else had this issue. I read that people have had to reflash their edu, replace the module that all the fuses and relays plug into, and some other crap. I would have been pretty pissed if I had to because I have babied this thing. It has seen a muddy road or two but nothing crazy because it is my dd. Anyways, if anyone else has had this issue let me know what you did please. Thanks

Bump to the top and I have the same problem on my 2010 JK.

Went to fire it up on Saturday and instrument cluster is inop. No speedo, no tach, no warning lights, no information lights, none of the turn indicator/light switches and wiper switches were working. A/C didn't work but the fan did. Strange thing is the wiper came on and stayed on until I turned the ignition off. Radio was working too.

On the way to drop it off at the dealership today I was playing around with the light switch and everything started working. Crazy. I tired to get it to fail again but no luck. I still dropped it off at the dealer to see if they can figure things out.

MAStephens89...have you found a fix?

First thing verify the battery is in working order. Everything works off of a baseline voltage. The temperatures start dropping and the batteries show their wear and tear.
Battery should read 12.5 to 12.9VDC sitting there and 14+VDC with the engine running.

Tpim

Might be the TPIM, a common problem. If you search for threads on TPIM you'll find many intermittent electrical problems caused by it.

Could be, but I'd go for what I could fix on my own first. And the battery will cause all of the same symptoms once it starts to fail.

I would second TIPM as a probable cause, my dash did this when the TIPM went south- had to be replaced under warranty, this was at 1k miles on the 2012.

I would agree. Check the battery and alternator first. I've had this happen with other vehicles due to low voltage.

That would show up doing the battery test. If you are not at least at 14VDC with the engine running you have a bad alternator or battery. A good test for the battery is to shut off the engine while watching the volt meter. If it's bad, it'll drop like a stopwatch...tick tick tick.

Hey All,

I have had one heck of a JEEP nightmare here. My Jeep is having the same issues as mentioned above: When I start it none of the instruments in the cluster work, no AC, and the wipers will not shut off. I have already tried replacing the battery and the TIPM. When I unplug the negative terminal on the battery and then plug it back in and it works fine. But after it sit for a little while the issues return. I am pretty sure the cluster needs replaced, but my fear is I will not be able to find one with low mileage. My Jeep only has 63,000 + miles on it. PLEASE HELP!!!!

Hi myle74,
We're sorry to hear about this. Are you considering having your dealer look into this? If so, please send us a PM. We would be happy to connect you and your dealer with a Case Specialist to assist throughout your service visit.

I will not take it to the dealership

I took it to the dealership to get the clockspring replaced under the warranty recall. It took them 6 months to complete this repair. A total nightmare. I even got Chrysler involved and they were not much help. They want $800 to put a new cluster in my Jeep. After my last experience, I do not want them anywhere near my Jeep. They broke off the hood prop and scratched my hood and the face of my instrument cluster.

I found a place online that does repairs and sales used and refurbished instrument clusters for $150.00. I am going to give that a shot. I also ordered a new alternator just to take that out of the equation. Already installed a new TIPM and battery.

Fingers crossed!

I'm having the same problems too

After heavy rain for 2 days, i have wet carpet on the floor on the drivers side (front & rear) and my instrament cluster is out AND my wipers are on (switch in off position) and headlights are on (switch in off position).

All fuses look good, instrament cluster looks clean at the conections and circut board looks good.

Definately need help,,,,
