On the intake side of the manifold, it has the firing order stamped on it and next to that, the letters XJ.Question 1/ Could this signify where my engine came from? (its a transplant) Question 2/ Does this change anything as far has getting parts from auto parts store?

No, parts are gonna be parts for that model. As far as the intake I can almost guarantee ya don't have a intake from a xj, just did my exhaust manifold and had the same stampings

Think your fine

I just replaced the gaskets for the intake and exhaust manifolds on my 89 4.2 and it had the same stamps. I was wondering the same thing for a while but figured since it runs somethings got to be right

Yah it's all good, I'm not an expert by any means ;) but I would believe that it has something todo with the part number or manufacturing sequence
