So I have needed a head gasket for probably a few weeks. My jeep has been losing power pretty regularly... Now this morning it was cutting out while giving it gas and is really leaguing!! I pressure washed the engine 2 days in a row with some heavy duty degreaser. Not sure if that is something to do with the problem or just quincidnce... Did I really mess something up or....

about the only thing that you could have done to blow the head gasket is run it too hot..just hope that it is just a gasket and not a cracked head which can happen from running it too hot

Could be any of the following possibilities if you've been driving around with a blown head gasket:

If you're really lucky, it blew in such a way that coolant isn't leaking into the crankcase and you're just losing compression in a cylinder and some coolant or possibly leaking into the combustion chamber and fouling the plugs.

If you're not lucky (coolant leaking into the crankcase, oil will be milky brown color), cylinders may be galled, rings burnt, main bearings fried. Or none of these have happened which puts you back in the lucky category.

Washing it won't damage it unless you are using ice water on a rocket hot engine.

Well there appears to be no coolant in the oil! I have been checking the oil regularly and it has only gotten hot once or twice an when it near'd red I shut it off imediatly!!!

Are you seeing any bubbles in the radiator while its running with the rad. cap off ???
Bad thing about blown head gaskets is they can let water into the cylinder, when you crank the engine over to start that water does not compress, usually it blows out the cylinder wall....!
Then all you can do is sleeve it or get another block..$$$$$$$$$
But if this happens you will have water in the oil and your oil will look like a chocolate milkshake...
If I might ask......What makes you think that your head gasket is "Blown".....?
Pressure washing it probably got moisture inside one or more of the boots around the ignition wires to the plugs.....pull each one off and clean and dry it, replace it. Do the same to the rest of the electrical connections...
Also check for cracked vacuum hoses , it won't take much for a crack to suck air and cause problems... usually the cracks will appear around the ends where the hose connects....just bend it a little a see if it has a crack, if it does, cut it off and put it back on.....if it's real hard and brittle, change it out. Any Auto parts store or hardware has vacuum hose.....
Good luck ! "BH"

Well for that itch, just keep taking the meds and te rash should go away... Lol
3 people told me it was the head gasket! A pressure test, some vapor test and something else... I am worried that I replaced it and that wasn't even the problem? Now I am stuck on the side of the road waiting for a "so called friend" who would rather chase a broad then come and help me! He doesn't even noodle te B$#£€...
