Received a voicemail from the Jeep Customer Satisfaction Team, stating that they wanted to update my D/S airbag free of charge, and to call the number. Called the number, and they did identify that I was in their system as needing an "updated" airbag. Asked why it didn't show up as a recall on my Jeep Dashboard, and she said it is a campaign they are doing right now. She asked me what dealership I wanted to go to, and that it would take 10-14 days for them to order the part for that dealership, and even set up a date and time to do it.

Has anyone else received a call like this? At first it felt a little spammish, but after talking to her, it seems like it may be legit.

Anyone?

Hi cmelt2003,

This phone call was in regards to CSN T10 and I can confirm it is from Jeep! Owner letters will not be mailed for this CSN, instead owners will be contacted by phone as you were to make arrangements to have the driver airbag inflator removed and replaced. Feel free to PM our page with any additional questions.

that's strange. If they didn't take much information, then it may be legit. If they asked you for a lot of information, then it could have easily been something just trying to steal information by bullshitting you

Only thing she asked was for the number that the VM was left on. She then said are you (name), and I said yes. No VIN, no other info at all. Sounds like it is legit, just odd.

What years are covered by this? I probably won't get a phone call because the number on file for me has been disconnected.

Does anything show up on the call display when FCA calls? Will they leave a message on an answering machine?

I've taken to not answering the phone when the call display shows a number I don't know. This is especially true for incoming long distance calls. The "surveys", "winning cruises", and "credit card rate lowering" calls just got to be far too frequent.

Why can't they just put it in the mail?

Intersting. I have some experience with this.

Tried to go into my local dealership the other day. They checked my VIN and said they couldn't change my oil because there was a safety recall that affects my car. I asked why I wasn't contacted and they had no answer. Never got a call, letter...nothing. So they placed me on a waiting list that took about three weeks and I finally scheduled an appointment for next week.

It's a passenger airbag recall affecting 2007-2016 JK/JKU models.

Anyone else experiencing this?

What does oil have to do with an airbag?? Strange things happen with dealers and the factory.

What I'm thinking is that if they take in the work and let the Jeep go back out without a new airbag it's a liability issue. One can say well if it was at the dealer and they worked on it, how come they didn't switch out airbags? I guess it would the equivalent of an officer pulling over a legitimate drunk driver and letting them go. They could make it home in one piece or crash and die/kill someone. It's a crap shoot. At that point it would on the officer..

I just ran the VIN for my 2015 JKUR through NHTSA and came up with zero recalls. It's never been to the dealer, so nothing has been done to it without my knowledge.
