I'm beginning my wrangler research/search. I've been on Ebay(just browsing) and Autotrader.com. I'm looking in the 2003-2006s, hardtop, automatic, air, cruise, 6 cylinder(and maybe an unlimited). My fav color is impact orange or rescue green. I see 2006s from $16,000-26,000. I know the Rubicon is the top of the line and the X - low end. What's the best buying advice? Start with what I want to spend or start with the year I would like? Or what about mileage - go with an older model with less miles or newer with low miles? Or am I making this more difficult than I need to(I have been known to do this)??? There just seems to be great differences in price ranges.

Prices seem to adjust to availability in the part of the country you are looking. Prices will be higher in dry and "rust free" areas of the country. I would go to kbb.com, put in the year and accessories you are looking for and look at dealer and private sale prices. It will ask for your zip code to adjust for the part of the country you are looking in and will have a place to put in milage. That will give you a pretty good idea of what to expect to pay. Nothing will exceed your diligence in looking at and driving several vehicles in making a wise buy, though.
