I do not know if this is true but I have heard the following for the Jeep:
CJ-Civilian Jeep
YJ-Your Jeep
TJ-Today's Jeep
But then what does the JK stand for with the new models? Just curious. Scooby

The letters don't stand for anything. That's a common misconception. Some people I guess want to think that the letters mean something, but it's just a designation of the manufacturer.

Just like most Japanese car makers, they have a desigation for thier cars chassis.

Toyota:
1987-1992 Toyota Supra = JZA70
1993-1998 Toyota Supra = JZA80
1991-1996 Toyota MR2 = SW20

Nissan:
1995-1998 Nissan 240sX = S14
1999-2001 Nissan 240sx = S15
1990-1996 Nissan 300zx = Z32
2003-Current Nissan 350Z = Z33
1999-Current Nissan Skyline = BNR34

Jeep just makes theres a little more easy to remember :D

Ah. You know, I don't know a single YJ driver that would fit that category, and I'll leave it at that.

Well, that's what it is. When I see a TJ on the road, I think "There's a TJ". When I see a YJ on the road, I think, "There's some parts I need".

I agree completely, Amerijeep. Calling YJ drivers yuppys is like calling jeep girls soccer moms.

It is someone's idea, of putting meaning behind some lousy letters..........but I still like JK= Just Kidding, like it is a joke, that DC created..........:D

And if I am not mistaken, CJ did stand for civilian Jeep.

Every YJ might have 20" dubs for all I know. Maybe I had dubs for lunch. It was Japanese, so who knows.
