Maybe I’m psyching myself out here, but whenever I’m in first gear and stopped at a red light for example, my Jeep gets quieter than normal. It almost seems like the engine bogs down or just becomes extremely quiet, then as I proceed to move it obviously becomes louder like normal. Am I just being picky? Or could something be wrong?

Low rpms at idle will do that.

My chain saw does the same thing. :blackeye

I'm assuming you're personally experiencing something sounding different from your normal, but your description parallels almost all combustable engine vehicles.

What's your RPMs at idle?

Does it sputter or get jumpy when you take off?

When's the last time you changed your blinker fluids?

TJ's tend to roar a bit on initial acceleration. If it's too quiet for you though, put it in neutral and let the clutch out. The marbles in a can sound will help. ;)
