I was thinking when i finish my payments on my LJ i would go out and see if i can get a jeep grand cherokee srt8 to drive around and pull my LJ behind to the trails. you guys think its a good idea cause i wanted something to tow my LJ around when i wanted to go off-road and didnt want to buy a chevy or ford you know what i mean. I think its got alot of power with the 6.1L 420hp and 420lb.

wheelbase is kinda short if you plan to tow quite a bit. Diesel is the only way to go for tow.

Too Much Juice...

The 5.7L HEMI will do the trick...

The 6.1L SRT8 will be a problem because of the Exhaust .

They are blast to drive in the 6.1 but all any one needs is the 5.7.

I'm here for you you if you need help with anything.

Here is a list of the top 10 tow vehicles. I would go for #1 or #3. just my opinion. Diesel is premo!! I tow with my Chevy Tahoe and 350cid 260hp. My gas milage drops from 17mpg to about 9mpg and it is pretty hard on the engine.

The Grand with a Hemi will have has plenty of power It's the rest of the vehicle I would worry about. I like to tow with a vehicle with a solid frame not unibody.

That's just my 2 cents,
Frank

Not sure how the new Grand tows, have two buddies that tow with older grands, ZJ and WJ. Can't fly up the hills, but they get the job done. I tow with an 04 dodge 1500 hemi. Does just fine for me. I can cruise at 65mph and have plenty of power to pass most cars and other trucks going up hills. If I had to do it all over again i would look for a 3-5 year old diesel and once I found one in decent shape that would be my tow rig.
