I've never heard that Jeeps were being for "girls". My father did opine, about ten years ago when I was buying a new one, that he believed that only young people drove Wranglers. That one earned a quizzical stare from me.
I'll admit that when I was in my teens we had a few people drive CJs but that's mostly because we only wanted wheels, we didn't care (mostly) what the hell they were.
