We got our new Jeep this week. It is an Amp'd Rubicon X that we ordered in January and picked up this first week of May. We love our new Jeep. I wanted to start a thread reviewing what people are thinking of their new Jeeps.

We love everything about ours, from the dealership to all the little extras Jeep has thought of. We got our Jeep from Snowy Mountain Motors in Lewistown, Montana. They were great to deal with and very reasonable on price.

We took our Jeep on a little road trip last night. This is my second Jeep. My first was a 1953 M38A1. It was very basic, and the X is very fancy, but you can see the old Jeep in the X. I had to sell the old Jeep as I lived 10 miles from town and it would only go about 40 on the road. The X will go as fast as you want, but you can feel the 4:10 gears.

My other rig is a 6.2L Chevy LTZ. You really have to watch it on the speed in the LTZ. The X you can really feel the lower gears on the highway. It has great power and passing is fine, but it doesn't seem to "coast" going down hills like the truck.

We took about a 200 miles trip in the Jeep last night. It is brand new, only had about 325 miles on it after our trip yesterday. On the way out I drove between 65-80 varying the speed depending on passing and such. We got 16.5 MPG.

On the way home I keep it between 60-65 (the speed limit is slower here after dark) and we got 18.5 MPG. I was pretty impressed considering the Jeep is brand new, it has 4:10's and very aggressive tires. Pretty happy.

I am curious what everyone else gets for mileage as their Jeeps get broken in.

And on the tires and the Jeep in general, it is very quite on the road. We expected a lot of road noise, but there is almost none. This Jeep is much, much tighter that older Jeeps I have been in.

The Jeep is really fun to drive, but you do have to drive it. To me it feels a more like a sports car. The steering is very responsive and tight. The LTZ is a lot looser and just seems to float along ( and get away from you speed wise). I like the Jeep better as you have to think about it is you want to go 80. It will do it, but you know you are going 80. In the truck 80 feels more like 30.

I'm not meaning this thread to be a comparison between the truck and the jeep, they are totally different and have different purposes. It is just an easy way to describe how the Jeep drives.

Our Jeep has all kinds of cool stuff on it. Being an X, I was able to take the end caps off of the front bumper. It looks sweet and took about 10 minutes to do. We have a 430N radio. It is great, but I have put in into the French and Spanish modes on accident and it takes a while to get back to English.

The seats are awesome in the Jeep. Very comfortable.

Haven't had a chance to test the 4 Wheel Drive yet, but we will.

Looking forward to hearing others observations.

Thanks-Jon

Your Rubi is a beauty. It needs hills, rocks , dirt/sand to play in especially in those early developing years....

The only observation I can give you about our JKU is that it is the most enjoyable, fun, vehicle we have ever owned, and I intend on getting another one to go with it. It's my wife's daily driver and we take it everywhere. My F250 SD 4x4 is jealous. we have had it to several Off road parks, lots of beaches and to a few West Texas ranches on hunting trips. Love it more everyday.

Headed to our first Jeep Jamboree this coming weekend, have been looking forward to it for a while.

Fuel mileage in ours is 17-18 normal driving, up to 21 on the freeway as long as we stay below 70 and closer to 65. Depends on wind as well.
Congrats on the new bouncin baby Rubi x.

Took a longer trip yesterday and still loving the Rubi. We got 17.5 and had wind, mountain passes and some city driving. Also used the 4WD for the first time. We really love the radio/sound system. We got the 430N and it is great. Also love the lack of road noise. I'm really surprised there isn't more noise from the tires. Can't wait to get into the mountains.

In the mid 80's when I was 13 I got my first jeep, a 1950 cj3a. My love of all things jeep was born. I now have a 2012 2 door sport with a 6 speed. it is better in every way than I had thought it would be. Even with the soft top it isnt too loud. And I get 22mpg on the hiway. Congrats on your new jeep.

Another thing, when we ordered our Jeep and I started reading this forum I was all excited to lift it a little. It really doesn't need it. I love the way our X sits stock. We may not do anything to it.

The only observation I can make is that hood is freaking ugly, you should take it off right now and send it to me so I can dispose of it for you. :):)
