I know this has been around before concerning Islander production numbers and some research indicates that they were only in the hundreds (less than a thousand) which seems pretty low to me. Now I'm speaking of all JK Islanders, so this could be correct for the Unlimited itself. I've found that they were only produced in the month of Feb. 2010 and my build date confirms that.
So, any other Islander owners out there, two or four doors?
Would also welcome any other feedback on this model.

we got ours in May 2010, have not looked for a build date, where do you find it at?
Hey, we finally have another here and a JKU at that...or at least it appears that way in your profile. They must truly be rare with over 800 visiting the JK forum as we speak and you're it so far.
For your build date, it should be somewhere inside or on the drivers side door.
If you don't have your build sheet, get it in an email by filling out the form ....
Build sheet request... jeep.com/jeepcares
or Jeep USA.... 800 992 1997

I'm looking at 2010 Islander 4 door. I took a photo of the vin on the door and it reads "date of MFR 3-10.
Were going to put an offer in tomorrow. I had no idea these were a rare item.
Being a newb to the jeep world i just found out some more good news. Apparently the Islander comes with Rubi shocks and springs. Wondered why they were red and the Sahara's were black.

Supposedly there were less than a thousand produced, but can't verify it. I also was under the impression that they were only made in Feb. 2010, so.......
They also come with what appears to be Rubi wheels and tires, which I had changed for my wife's daily driver. Actually just wanted different tires and the sales manager offered 5 brand new Sahara's. What did I know, being new to Wranglers and prior to joining these forums? Sorta of an impulse buy anyway, with also wanting a good toad to pull around behind the RV.
Keep us posted on how you make out with your find.

My dealer had several on the lot in 2010 and had a two door left over into 2011. Haven't seen any around since they sold that two door.

Even with limited production, I don't think they were ever very popular with the inflated price that went with it and a limited choice of colors. You might ask your dealer what the markup actually was, since I've read conflicting on that also.
Ours doesn't look like an ISLANDER anymore, but does naturally have the tell tell blue thread in the steering wheel's leather wrap. Then there's the red shocks and slush mats of course. Hood logo has been removed, seats have been replaced with leather and the wheels and tires previously mentioned.
