Hey all, I have an 2008 Sahara that came factory with the 730RER I added the mic for cheap and I had hands free calling blue tooth. It was a love hate thing as I could never see the radio with the top down or if I has my sunglasses on. I recently picked up a 2011 ram with a 130s in it and I swapped them. All is well I really like the 130 in the jeep as I mostly listed to the radio and I now have 12 easy to get presets...

The question is how do I get my hands free calling back into my jeep? The 130s I have has the u-connect and phone buttons ect.. It was my understanding that if I picked up the uconnect module and harness I'd be good to go?? part# 88212159 Recently, I read where I'd have to take it to a dealer to "turn on" the feature? Can some one confirm this? I'm guessing my jeep already has the connectivity group programmed because of the stock 730rer nav radio. I don;t want to drop the $250 in cash for hands free and be SOL...

The big reason for this is PA is enacting new phone laws..

Thanks
bob

Just to checkpoint, the 730N has Bluetooth built-in, and it works without any relationship to having (or not having) the Connectivity Package.

The 130, 130S, 430, and 430N, all have to have an external "Uconnect" module required, to add Bluetooth. This module only comes as part of the Connectivity Package.

Does your Jeep have the Connectivity Package? Are you sure, because having the 730N doesn't automatically mean you have the Connectivity Package too.

great points Walt and that's exactly what i was asking/thinking in a long winded way. Is there anyway to check to see if I have the connectivity group? If there is and if I does that mean I'm good to go?

I may have answered my own question.. this would mean I need to take it to a dealer to have it scanned and the code added?? Does anyone know the code for an 08 jku? connectivity pgk???

I do not need steering wheel controls are anything like that? I just want the button on the stereo to work when I press it. I'm not clear why the connectivity pgk would be needed?

Connectivity was not available on 2007-2010. The OP will have to get the uconnect module get BT. This:

That number matches up to what I thought I needed. I found it for $230ish although the description changes with different sales ads with some sort of separate button... I guessing for radios that do not have the phone button built in like mine?

You got me curious enough to take a look at this. There seems to be, two very similar kits. One kit for head units without an "uConnect" phone button on their faceplate and those include a separate button (see below), and one kit for head units with an "uConnect" button and those don't include that extra button (and you save between $20 and $40).
