Since the new LED tail lights from JW Speaker are almost available, I thought we could start a new thread dedicated to discussing them.

Here's the anouncement from JW Speaker, posted on Facebook 10/6/2015

good Lord. JWS is going lower and lower on my opinion scale
Bad vendor is not JWS's fault. It says on the JWS page that the selling vendor is responsible for warranty claims. Bad vendor for directing the customer to JWS.

"In the unlikely event that you experience a problem that falls within the terms of this Lifetime Limited Warranty, J.W. Speaker Corporation will, at its discretion, either replace or refund the purchase price of the product. To make a warranty claim, simply return the product (along with all of the factory-issued components) to the J.W. Speaker Corporation authorized dealer where the product was originally purchased and complete a warranty claim form."
What vendor are you talking about so everyone would avoid buying from them?

I would like to know this as well.
Don't know the specifics or the vendor involved here but....

If I ever had an issue with JWS (or Anything) Rick at Quadratec has ALWAYS been right there for me. Just one reason why I ONLY order from Rick and a couple other vendors here on WF (Ryan has a great rep as well).
Takes ALL the stress out of the ordering process.

Vendors that don't back the sale up wit service should be run out on rails.

After dealing with Rick, I'm in the same boat. If there's an issue, we wants to make it right. I've dealt with Ryan and Northridge4x4 as well. All great customer service as well.

Most definitely!

Roger that. I'd order from those Guys even if their prices were higher - which they never are.

Well the vendor contacted me via email asking for a chance to see what they can do on Monday. They want to forward the pics to Speaker and see if they can get a warrantee light sent out from them. I'll update with whatever happens.
While I've also had great luck with Quadratec, I think it's super important to also find a high quality local shop you can go to with problems where you know they have your back. In my case, I was able to get my JW Speaker tail lights locally even quicker than if I had ordered them online for the same price as the online retailers (although I had to pay sales tax of course). The shop I purchased mine at saw my review which had some criticisms, and they reached out to me to be sure I was happy and offered to replace them. I've unfortunately dealt with some unscrupulous sellers on Amazon and ebay that have made me spend a little more effort looking locally. Just thought I'd throw that out there! :)
Got mine from QT today. Not 100% on them.

The Bad:
They seem pretty cheap/ plastic-y and IMHO, not worth the premium you would pay for JWS. I don't know if I'm having buyers remorse or not, but the whole 'clip a resistor to the side of the body' thing is weird to me. Also, the warnings that the resistor could get up to 600 degrees in the instructions concern me.

Reverse lights are not bright at all, and don't light anything behind me. White light just comes on, but is not bright.

In addition, they are a little smaller than stock, and while I'm the only one that will probably notice, I can see where my other lights were mounted. Plastic is also 'creaky' and not really solid like how I would expect a 300+ dollar product to be.

The Good:
Bright as heck. Looks really nice / like the blacked out look.

Recommendation:
If there was a 'gasket' around the light and body I can see it cutting down the creaky-ness and gaps I see.

Really a fan of Quadratec and the deal I got, but I may be sending them back and looking at other options.

They do look cool though....

Installed my new tail lights today... I really love the look of them, very clean! When you look at these compared to the old ones you start to realize how dated the OEM ones are.

I guess my only issue(and the member above me said the same thing) is that the lights are slightly smaller than the OEM style. This means you can see the rubbing marks left by the old ones. How could they be off on something like this? It's several MM smaller on all sides....

Otherwise, I love them and would buy again.

(sorry for the rotated pic - I'm not great at doing the picture thing)

Exactly - JW Speaker has nothing to do with this situation. The warranty is with the vendor, not JW Speaker.

This needs to be fixed for version 2.

I have rub marks on my Jeep too. I tried cleaning them up and buffing them but I guess three years of the tail lights being there is too much. I had a few spots where the corners sit that were down to primer. I used touch up paint, but we all know how that looks now, the touch up paint shows around the edge of the lights.

Both of mine have a 2 inch section that doesn't fit perfectly flush on the top edge right before the screw hole on the side nearest the tailgate.

I miss my reverse bulbs too. The reverse doesn't do anything for me now. I had LED tail lights in my TJ that kept the stock reverse bulb for some reason. Loved that, I could run my aftermarket bulb there instead.

They are bright though, no doubt about that.

Side note - If you can't get the inside edge to fit right you might need to remove the metal clips that the screws go into. I used a needlenose pliers to squeeze the clip together, it tends to pop out quick so watch out. I turned the clip 90 degrees to be able to get the light to fit. If the light was as big as the stock one on this edge, this wouldn't be an issue.

I was able to polish out of the marks from the stock light mine were in there for fuve years. but it still doesn't cover the bump where the screw hole is ...im going to try and rotate the clips like you mentioned if that doesn't work i can get some speed clips from work and slip them in there .thanks for the tip
Quit making excuses for JWS. Its a flawed design no matter what the company who sold it retail to us does.

Not making excuses for anyone. Just pointing out what it says in writing. You're the one with disdain for JWS for some reason. Are JWS products perfect? Of course not. Do they work well? Yes, they do.
Disdain for JWS? No, I have disdain for improperly designed products at premium prices, no matter who makes it. Like I said, I will wait for version two :)
I like the way they look but have an occasionally issue. Ive had my right turn signal light blink rapidly a few times as if there were a bulb out on the standard tail lights. Most of the times they work fine and the few times this had happened (always the right side) if I click them off and then back on they blink normally. Maybe the resistor isn't making good contact?
I went off-roading this past weekend, my JWS Speaker rear passenger light had condensation form on the inside of the light and the rear marker.

The drivers side was dry.

Sounds like it - that's what the resistor is supposed to prevent. Worst case, just give the vendor a call and they should be able to make it right.

i had mine do that last night on the way back from Philadelphia. And mine was the right side also.i just thought my turn signal mod up front had a connection, cause sometimes my turn signal connector doesn't quite make a solid connection.idk have to keep an eye on it
