Jeep Fact # 205
Jeep Tops “least expensive to insure” list for 2014
Jeep grabs a remarkable seven of the 20 "least expensive to insure“ spots
Read the full article here: The least expensive cars to insure | Insure.com
“Joe Wiesenfelder, executive editor of Chicago-based Cars.com, agrees Jeep's victory on the "least expensive to insure" rankings is a reflection of both how safely Jeep owners drive their vehicles and the cost of repair and replacement of Jeeps.”

AWESOME!!! But then I hear a lot of people on here worried about their Jeep getting broken into because of the lack of doors or soft top. I've owned a Miata and never had an issue no matter where I parked but I didn't leave the Rolex sitting in the front seat either.

Surprising news other than speed is usually a major contributor to accidents and JK is rated for a lot of things but speed is not one of them. :)

I just transferred from a 17 year old cherokee with 159k, valued at virtually nothing to a 14 2 door sport....and my premium went down by $6. Same high coverage, no fault policy. I was shocked.

I just paid first full 6 month premium on '14 JKURX that replaced '11 Kia Forte Sport. The premium was almost $40 cheaper. I was so shocked the I called my agent to be sure the coverage on the policy was correct.

Interesting... After calling my Insurance agent to get a quote on my future JKUR my premium is actually going up slightly from my 2012 Mustang GT. Which is weird. I will say that my Mustangs value was probably just over half of what my new Wrangler will be worth, so maybe that's why... But whatever the case its still a fraction of what I was paying before I turned 25, so I'm happy!

My quote was $200 a year higher for my inbound JKUR than my 2007 FJ Cruiser.
Clean record, married and over 50.

Replacement cost is probably twice as much but it would only cost $200 a year extra if we kept the FJ too.

With the resale and insurance situation, driving a new wrangler is actually reasonably economical as long as you do not drive a lot. Really depends on your commute. I was going to have a Jeep or some kind of 4x4, i really do not think the actual cost of my jeep vs say a colorado or frontier is that bad.

But, i live five miles from work.

Commute? Ah, 5 miles to work, you don't even get your engine warm.

My commute is 40 miles and that remain the domain of the car. Jeep only for weekend of fun, fun, fun.

Ran the numbers with my insurer and a Jeep as a Pleasure Vehicle will add $400 per year to the tally.

I have to say I was pleasently surprised when I insured mine...in California where they rip us off for EVERYTHING it was 514.00 a year 1,000 ded 100/300/100..shocked...was expecting at least 800.00 per year being its new, expensive, 4wd and California!...and like someone else mentioned i have a 23 year old Cherokee also and that is only 32.00 a year less to insure??? figure that one out!

Yep, my insurance dropped as well, coming from a 2004 F150.

My insurance dropped for both jeeps. Mike had a 2007 Murano and I had a 2009 Odyssey.

Now it's going to SKYROCKET with a teenaged driver! There's no help for that!

That's funny right there... No Rolex here, but I have the Miata and Jeep covered. :bop:

Have to be the 2 best automotive communities to play in.

Our JKU replaced a 2011 Hyundai Genesis Coupe and insurance went down $312 a year...

FWIW we pay almost the same for all the Jeeps the car and the house...confusing I know......the '14 JKU POLAR is actually the third in line cost wise, but all the premiums are within about $8 of each other..vehicles all have the same coverage......The house, than the '13 Chrysler 300, than the '14 JKU than the '12 JK than the '04 TJ...
