Okay, every year I have the engine and drive train over hauled (kind of a nasty flying habit). Just got it back the other day and noticed this part just flapping in the wind...

I looked thru my "fix her up" book and came to nothing..I believe this is some kind of sensor that is just not attached to a ground,any idea of what this sensor is? Its on the passenger side of the transmission, underneath the filler plug.

95 wrangler, 2.5L here are some pics.

If memory serves me correctly, that should be your reverse light switch ( thats where it is on my ax-15) ..... It's not grounded though. That most likely is just a tab to hold the wire from flapping free..

Well, it was the reverse light switch/connector, put it back onto a proper grounding point and it cleared up the issue of my next post "why the crap does my reverse light act funny"-Thanks uplifted at wolvertone!
