Are they a waist of money? Yes, if you use your Jeep heavily off road or you are going to add heavy bumpers and a winch. For that a spring lift is best. If you are going for light to moderate off road use with few add on mods or just like the look of a small lift then No. They will save you a grip load of money.
I run both BB (JK) and spring lift (JKU). The JK goes everywhere and with almost the same ease as or JKU.
Our 14 JK with only a TF BB testing flex after install of front long travel shocks while disconnects. It maxed out the test ramp. LOL it still had more flex left.
