I'm going to be installing the MBRP bull bar/light bar onto my stock bumper and was wanting to purchase some driving lights to install onto it. The problem that I've come across are that the lights mount in the pendant position. I was looking at a few of the Hella lights (black magics and rallye's) and they all say that they just mount upright. Does it really matter if you mount these lights upside down(pendant position) or upright? If it does than what are some of my other options for some driving lights that are comparable to the black magics or the rallye 4000s?

Rigid industries,aurora, black of logistics, etc are my recommendation. They make a special clamp to hang on top or below the bull bar and are 10x as bright (leds) and sweet looking than the big goofy Hellas and your conventional bulb lights. The price is steep on rigids but that's why I mentioned auroras as they are pretty much the same for half the price. There's also a winch fairlead mount for the LEDs should you consider a winch. Now if you want fog lights to be able to use legally while driving on the road well, I guess you go with the Hellas because the LEDs are way too bright.

Lamps are made in one direction only, that is, the reflector only works in one way I believe. The housing of the lamp, if it does not have a way to attach a bolt to the top of it, you can't use them upside down. Why? because it would not illuminate the road, instead, it would light up the sky or have an extremely useless beam pattern.

The lamp needs to have attachment top and bottom of it or some sort of bracket that allows t hat if you want to mount them either upright or downright.

Most lights have a "top" marking. Do whatever you can to make sure it's at the top no matter how you mount them. Usually means you have to take the ring off of the front of the light and just rotate the lens. This is usually (in off road lights) to position the vent hole at the bottom so any fluids can drain out and not for beam pattern.

Oh so the beam pattern is not affected by the reflector orientation in yours, thats interesting. I guess each lamp is different.

Most say top because they have a small vent on the back/bottom side so that condensation doesn't build up inside the lens. There's a thread on this forum where a guy mounted his KCs upside down and they ended up full of water so make sure you pay attention to your specific lights.

Not in my daylighter spot or driving beams. And I doubt in any other kind of offroad auxiliary light. The only lights I can think of that would be affected are fog light patterns in projector type housings. And headlights.

So, If I were to purchase the KC slimlites I can mount them upside down as long as I spin the lens so that the drain hole is on the bottom? We know this is actually possible? Or if its possible with the Hella black magics? I don't really want to spend the money on either of them and I can't lol
