Hey all a few pics of my little project today reattaching my 3rd brake light, Texas has a new law going into effect in Sept, informed of this while getting my inspection done. So I went ahead and traced & spliced the wire using heat shrink butt connectors, 18g wire and a long piece of heat shrink for water and general protection.

I rerouted the wires & and feed the heat shrink over the cables, applied heat and shrink it down it fit very good. Then reconnected the light tested and used some zip ties to hold in place. Not a professional job however I do most of my jeep projects myself if I can.

Attached a few pics of the project in case some of you out there have to do it as well.

Smittybilt kind of missed the mark on the 3rd brake light. It's great that it comes with the extension, and there's even a rubber grommet at the top of the tube near the brake light to run wires into.

However, there's nowhere at the bottom of the tube to run wires out of!

I ended up drilling my own hole in my brand new bumper and routed the wires inside the tubing.
