I need help with my jeep it's a 91 jeep wrangler 4x4 4.0. On my way to work this morning I started to lose power wasn't overheating or anything but I started hearing a real big vacuum sound my uncle the owner before me said a had the exhaust manifold welded before. Now would that make me lose power? And when it is just idling it's just fine

An exhaust leak or broken manifold wouldn't be a vacuum sound. It is more of a ticking noise.

Did the brakes seem spongy? The big hose going to the brake booster is vacuum. Most common of the vacuum leaks is the diaphragm in the booster gets a hole in it and then you can hear the leak (since its mounted to the firewall).

If you don't hear the vacuum hiss when its idling then I would look at the intake gasket or the base plate gasket on the throttle body. Or rev it up by hand and see if you can pinpoint the location.
