Hello all. new here....Picked up my first jeep a few weeks ago, an 08 JKU sahara hard top. Only has 39k miles on it and it is completely stock, with brand new stock tires (for now). Anyways, as I said this is my first jeep so excuse if I have some redundant questions. I really am enjoying the jeep. The ride is just fine and am itching to find my first trail. My question though, every time I go over a speed bump at moderate speed, maybe 5 -10 mph or so, something in the front driver door side clanks pretty loud. Its not a rattle, but something clanking hard. I can't pinpoint if it is coming from inside the door, or the area where the seatbelt is. Is this sound normal? If not, can anyone help troubleshoot it? I will likely remove the door trim panels and see what I can find.

Thanks
Paul

Are you positive that its the door? I have a 2013 JKU with 12,000 miles and I just had to tighten the drivers side sway bar connections. It was doing the same thing on bumps. The sound comes from right in front of the door hinge area, so maybe you're just thinking its the door. Get under and have some one stand in the open door and bounce it. Try to replicate the sound. If that's not it, I've got nothing. Cant imagine why a door would do that. Good luck!

If you are certain its the door then adding a few rounds of electric tape to the door latch (on the body) should solve it... Otherwise X2 on double checking the sway bar links. Sometimes simply bouncing on the jeep will reproduce or grabbing and shaking them by hand will show movement.
At any rate loosen them up a bit and re torque to the required amount as this wouldn't hurt to doit any ways .
You said you just got the jeep a few weeks ago.. You could go back the dealer (if not a private sale) and ask for them to give it a once over either being required under new purchase laws or as courtesy if you dont feel comfortable chasing it down yourself
