My AC was in on position when I turned on my jeep, I hear a single loud tick every 30sec or so, it sounds like loading a gun, I switched the AC off and the tick is gone- is this normal?

Sounds like your compressor kicking on/off... I've never sat with the radio off/windows open to see if it is noticeable, but I do know that on some vehicles, it can get pretty loud.

The A/C compressor on all vehicles makes a loud tick. It happens when the compressor kicks on. Some make a tick when it kicks off. The volume varies by vehicle/compressor.

This is completely normal operation. But, if you're worried about it, swing by the dealer and have them check it over.
