Mods That Were Worth It

1800 Views 12 Replies 9 Participants Last post by  YHSublime
Lately, I've been seeing a lot of people asking what mods they should do to their jeep. Feel free to post a mod that you have done to your jeep that you are satisfied with. These could be cheap, or expensive, just post your mods that you are happy that you did.

These could be new springs, new winch, headlight upgrades, V8 conversion, tires, lockers, CAI, anything.

Post the price and where you bought the parts from.
Post pictures if applicable!

smittybilt SRC front bumper. got it on sale for $200 from 4wd.com a while back. takes a beating without any damage. fit perfect on the yj I bought it for then when it died I got the TJ and man alive it bolted right up same as the stock one. has 4 mounts for lights and looks great! ive got many smittybilt products for the TJ and the yj i talked about, and though ive heard bad things about their winches the non powered things ive got are great.

Currie Antirock, Currie Johnny-Joint suspension, Currie Currectlync Steering kit, Warn 9.5xp winch, Viking 3/8" synthetic winch rope, Black Magic brake pads, Black Magic power steering cooler, Derale auto transmission cooler, Savvy gas tank skidplate, Savvy rocker guards, Savvy front bumper, and Savvy rear corner guards, Warn hubs, Superior Axle shafts up front (replacing the rear Alloy USA shafts with Superior Axle alloy shafts today), and OME Nitrocharger shocks. There's plenty more mods on my TJ but I enjoy and notice the benefits of those particular items each and every time I wheel it.
Front lockright locker and rough country high clearance skid plate. Two best mods I have done.
Definitely the winch for me!!

Always wondered how a lock rite works in the frt of a TJ is the axle is always turning. Any odd symptoms

They are benign and don't affect your steering when you're in 2wd. They click a tad when you're in 2wd but that's it. It's only when you shift into 4x4 that a front automatic locker kicks in enough to notice it. Driving on a slick icy street in 4x4 with a front automatic locker would not be advisable but in 2wd it'd be fine. My Powertrax No-Slip lunchbox locker in the front of my previous TJ was virtually undetectable in 2wd, it didn't even click. The other lunchbox lockers like Lockrite, Aussie, and EZ-Locker will only click when in 2wd but they don't affect steering.
I love it. I dont hear it click that much and you never feel it in 2wd. Even when Im off road in 4wd in dirt or rock crawling it does not effect the steering at all. I havent been in ice or snow yet so not looking forward to that. I also did a winch but I have only used it once and if I had the front locker at that time I wouldn't have needed the winch. But a winch is still good to have.
Bedlining my interior... but what I really appreciate a year later is that I did my doors on a whim. They are one of my favorite things I've done to my Wrangler.

looks good. I may think about that for my half doors.
I did my halfdoors as well, the above was done with Raptor liner, I used the rustoleom truck bed liner (in the jar, not the spray) for my halfs. Didn't turn out as nice, will be re-doing them in the summer.
