Ok y'all, just order the kit and i am waiting for it to ship. I am doing my exterior.So as for prep i think i am going to pull out all the lights(taillights head light act). What grain sand paper do you think i should use. also what do y'all think about paint offer hingers? like the hood hinges and tailgate ones, or should i just take the hood and tailgate off all together and paint it separately?

Ill be interested to see this cause I am choosing my color from Monstaliner now.... What color did you choose? I did my 91 in rustoleum brand truck bed liner and roughed it up with like 80 grit paper I think. Then I rolled two coats on. Did you get two gallons for the exterior or one?

As far as prep work goes, you do the same prep as if you were going to paint it with regular paint. It will show imperfections as well as sanding marks, not as bad as regular paint but they will show. I wouldn't use anything heavier grit wise than 180, even 220 if you are sanding it with a powered sander.

As far as the hinges are concerned, if you take them off, you need to plug the hole (I used foam disposable ear plugs) or you will never get the bolts back in without chasing each hole with a tap.

I didn't do exterior, but interior was done and you can see all of my "ah that looks good enough" sanding jobs. Prep work means everything. As well as using a good pre-cleaner to wipe everything down that you want the monsta to stick to well.

The more that you can take off and paint separately, the better the paint job will turn out.

As far as sanding, it doesn't need to go down to bare metal, just smooth out the bad spots, if it is bare metal, prime it first. then scuff the primer.

Everything that is painted on mine was done outside. (it is almost 8ft tall, and doesn't fit in the 7 foot garage door). lol. It was painted inside and out, top to bottom. It would be nice to do it inside, but isn't necessary. I did monstaliner on the interior, Dupli-color spray cans for the green, and dupli-color truck bed liner for the top and fender flares, and frame.

Now as far as sanding should I sand it down to bare metal?
I also have to find a enclosed area to paint it. I wana keep out as much dust and humidity out.
Has anyone applied this stuff while outside?
I've done 2 jeep interiors, 1 inside and 1 outside the garage. The last one was my ,43 Willys I did in my back yard. No need to go to bare metal and the main factor is dust. I covered my tub with a tarp between coats but that's going to be tough when doing the exterior. Maybe rent a tent?
You will get the same humidity inside or outside unless you are in a perfectly sealed area. The only way humidity will affect your paint job is that the more humidity, the quicker it dries since water is the catalyst.
Lastly, I really like the OD shade of Monstaliner, it matches the shade of OD paint I put on the rest of my Jeep perfectly.

I was reading some threds about painting it and was told to stay away from specific primers. And primer y'all suggest. And I heard I should wash the jeep with asatone after I sand it.

Oh btw I mentioned I was a member of the forum and asked for CS and they gave me a free quart. So I will be using that to cut out an prep the rust! Monsterliner is a GREAT company!

ok so now before i go and break into this box, how do i keep the liner from drying on the roller in-between coats?? it only comes with a few and i don't want to ruin one in-between coats

I bought some disposable containers with lids. I mixed up the entire gallon and put half in one container for the first coat and half in the other container for the second coat. (It's all in my writeup in the link in post #12 above)
