This is just one setup. I recommend it all the time and many run it. I figure making a thread to link to instead of typing will save a lot of time.

Lift kit

Teraflex 2.5" coil lift without shocks or extensions why in bold ? Because without shocks or extensions, the rear frame side TB bracket is replaced with the better axle side bracket.
TeraFlex - JK 2-Door 2.5” Lift Kit

TeraFlex - JKU 4-Door 2.5” Lift Kit
Every thing is here to get you started ie. Swaybar links, bump stops, brake line brackets, etc

Shocks

Wait for it .........Rancho RS9000xl adjustable shocks. For the price can't be beat :thumb: Rancho RS999329 RS9000XL Series Front Shock Absorber for 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK & Wrangler Unlimited JK with 3-3.5" Lift
Rancho RS999330 RS9000XL Series Rear Shock Absorbers for 07-18 Jeep Wrangler JK & Wrangler Unlimited JK with 3-3.5" Lift
Yes I know .. It says "4" of lift"
No worries .. The 29xl/30xl have a compressed length about 1" over stock (Rubi shocks)
You will have more than enough bumpstop to run these shocks. These shocks are just about perfect with a 2.5" lift

Edit 3/22/15 Rancho 5000x
I am adding Rancho 5000x shocks as a option. Cheap and the ride really well.
Rancho RS55329
Rancho RS55330

Caster correction
Any lift over 2" should have caster angle corrected. Low caster can create a flighty feel to the steering at speed.
Rancho New Geo brackets

-or-
Front lower control arms fixed or adjustable(choose brand)

2012+ only
If you're off roading with the swaybar disconnected. There's a good chance the front driveshaft might contact the exhaust crossover. Exhaust spacers move the crossover piping back adding clearance.

Extras
Recommended but not overly important.

Front Track bar (choose brand)
The rear is close to center with the bracket. A adjustable track bar will center up the front axle.

9/16 bolt kit
Why not ad some death wobble insurance. Heck .. All bolts should be loosened during install of the lift. A few extra minutes to swap in new bolts ... Why not :D

Good timing - looking at lifts. All I ever hear are how good the Mopar / AEV setups are. Great to know a solid alternative!
So I have been watching this thread for a long time. I'm now very close to pulling the trigger on a lift. I had planned on going with the recommended setup in this thread - Teraflex / 9000's, etc. One of my local shops (a respected one at that) was steering me away from the teraflex setup. He had problems with the linear springs vs. that of progressive AEV springs. He's strongly recommending the AEV / Bilstein setup with their brackets. Anyone have experience with both? Who'd a thought picking the right lift is this complicated!!
AEV is a good lift as well. I however don't like the fact that you have to run the drop brackets and their 2.5" does not come with a front track bar to re-center the front axle. What are you plans for the JK? Are you going to run bumpers, winch, tire carrier, fenders... etc? If so, then you will like the progressive rate coils better. I would forgo the AEV and look more at the Rock Krawler setup. They have a triple rate coil where as the AEV is dual. Plus it comes with front lower control arms (no brackets!) and a front track bar. Both the AEV do not. KOR Rock Krawler JK 2.5" Flex Package with Shocks (Customizable) And yes, the Rancho rebate will work on this lift as well if you do the Rancho 9000XL's. Great shock! -Jason
Out of the gate I'm doing the lift to better fit the 35's I'm buying this weekend (on AEV Pintlers). I know right around the corner I will need to do a tire carrier (either integrated into the bumper or something like the teraflex). I would like to do bumpers - though that's 6+ months out. Would love a nice winch as well - that's about a year out. I'm also interested in fenders, though not total sure what I want to do there - also needs to line up around bumper selection...

Long story short, yes I'll be progressively adding weight...
Then the second option would be the best for long term. Lets build the JK for what it will become so we don't have a issue down the road! We also have the Rock Krawler in stock now along with the shocks. We can usually have this shipped out same day! Let us know! -Jason
Thanks Jason - lift is definitely next - well that and a tire carrier! Just bought those 35" KO2's and can't get spare on :)

I am in badly need of advice and direction. I purchased a 2015 Jeep Wrangler Willys JK. This is my daily driver and I also expect to do some off-roading with it. I live in Florida so no rock climbing for me. I do not know that much about off-roading but do know enough to get in serious trouble. Therefore I intend to join the Orlando Jeep Club to help me learn what I should and should not do with my Jeep. I have already installed a LOD midwidth bumper and a Warn 8000S winch. My front springs were 14’s and I replaced them with 17’s. The LOD bumper weighs 38 lbs, and the bull bar weighs 12 lbs and the skid plate weighs 11 lbs and Warn winch weighs 55 lbs. The stock bumper weighed 34 lbs. so therefore the total weight added to the front end was about 80 lbs. I still have about one inch rake which was the same as stock. I want to keep this jeep as light as possible. I do intend to install a M.O.R.E oil pan and transmission skid plate and a differential plate. I want to install the lightest tires and wheels I can find. I have been looking at the Mastercraft Courser MXT in either LT315/70R17 or 35-1250R17 or Goodyear Duratrac LT315/17R17. I also plan on installing flat fender flares. I have read the various posts on suspensions and lifts until I am blue in the face. I read and re-read TheDirtman’s sticky: My thoughts on lifts so many times I can’t count. Now here comes my problem area…..lifts. I would be fine if I did not need a lift at all but I am not that interested in wheel spacers. I am thinking that a lift is needed in order to install taller shocks on the vehicle. TheDirtman said that all I would need would be a 2 “ lift and that’s the direction I would like to go. I really like the idea of keeping my jeep as close to the center of gravity as I can. I need this vehicle to be as close to a stock jeep when I am on the highway but still want to be able to keep up with the big boys off road and not quite sure on how to get there. Oh one more thing, I have a difficult time trying to understand this whole suspension thing. I think I would have an easier time trying to understand the ins and outs of nuclear physics. So any help would be greatly appreciated.
Sounds like the key for you is a progressive rate spring as was mentioned in last post. I'd just pick a high quality lift like Rock Krawler, Metal Cloak or AEV. I went with the 2.5" AEV / Bilstein setup and absolutely love it! Handles better than stock on the street and performs great off-road.
Love that time of year! LOL...

And yes. I say it is a toss up between the TeraFlex and Rock Krawler. Really depending on what you are doing with the Jeep and out it is outfitted. Both however are GREAT setups! If you need help picking out what would be right for you and your Jeep, feel free to contact us. We love chatting about lifts!

Out of curiosity, what are the drive characteristics between these two and an AEV Dual Sport 2.5"? I know the AEV has shorter matches Bilstein shocks and progressive rate springs - maybe better for DD that straight off-road performance? I have the AEV and my Jeep rides way better than stock...

I posted in my generic tire/lift question thread, but decided more appropriate here.

I am going to install this kit this weekend. (TF 1351000, Rancho 5000's, Rancho Correction Bracket). After installing the lift, will it be a problem to use the Sahara stock wheels and tires on the road - to drive to tire shop? I thought I read on this thread that it would be ok, but can't find it. I need to adjust my plan if I can't use the stocks to get to shop.

I think the only problem is it will look funny with a lift and stock wheels and tires :)

Wheels and tires really shouldn't make a difference.

Actually you have to make sure the rear swaybar links dont hit the wheel. You can try mounting inboard or leaving out until after the new tires are put on.

I'd listen Kjeeper for sure - he's way more knowledgeable about Jeeps and suspensions than I... it would look funny though :)

Does anyone have torque specs for the bolts that need to be torqued when lifting?
