I'm looking at doing a 1"/1.25" BL with 1" MML, and I'm a bit confused. There seem to be these spacers that have been called Budget Motor Mount Lifts that use your stock mounts, require grinding down the stud, and are $72 + shipping, like these: JKS TJ / YJ 1" Budget Motor Mount Lift - JKS8100

However, there are 1" MML mounts that are purpose built, with new bushings and look a lot stronger from Brown Dog for $84.95 C2883-1 Jeep 4.0L TJ or LJ 1" Motor Mount Lifts, Long-Life Polyurethane

And a similar pair from JKS for $105.99 JKS 1" Motor Mounts (Pair) JKS-CE9200

So... am I missing something here? What so 'budget' about $13 less dollars, contrasted with brand new poly/rubber bushings and bolts? Is there any reason not to get the Brown Dog ones, or something that makes the spacers preferable in some way?

Well I used the JKS spacers which use the original motor mounts (nothing to difficult about installing).. I see you selected poly motor mounts, and the consensus on most threads is to stay away from poly and go with rubber. The rubber has noticeably less vibrations than the polyurethane

I have the jks full mounts. They are nice but with the poly bushing you do feel more engine vibes. My buddy has the brown dog mounts. To me they were a nicer mount and were cheaper. I figured replacing the entire mount was the better way to go then just adding a spacer to a 110,000 mile stock mount.

I have the M.O.R.E. 1" MML & really like them. No extra vibrations, no clearance issues, & an easy install.

Thanks, I hadn't made my mind up on that one yet. However, that wasn't on purpose, I'm really wondering why anyone would buy spacers instead of new mounts, when the difference in price is so small.

Well the rubber ones are a little more expensive than the poly. So then the price difference starts getting a little more noticeable (but not too much)..

Well if your stock motor mount bushings are shot then you'd have to replace the whole motor mount anyways. Otherwise, no big drawback

Even if you buy the rubber ones their is no wheres near the amount of rubber that is in an OE mount so you will have an increase in vibes . I have had to remove a pair of new Brown Dog rubber mounts nd reinstall an OE mount but added the JKS budget spacer to get ride of the vibes for a very fussy friend . RC makes a set like JKS for even less.

JKS budget mml spacers as in the first pic above. Been on and working fine since 2009.

BUT, My TJ only had 15,000 mls on it when installed, and just turned 40,000 mls.
So stock motor mount bushings are still going strong.

I put a set of Brown Dog rubber mounts on my daughter's 4 cyl jeep, and if I had it to do over I would get a new set of OEM mounts and use the spacers. Just too much vibration at idle, and a little again at 3000+ rpm. It does feel good and solid working through the lower gears though.

I used the Rough Country spacers. Easy to install, and still has the original rubber bushings to soak up the vibrations.

I'm running brown dog stock poly mounts on my rig. I would never use a spacer on the stock mounts. your in there already just replace them. I went with poly because I abuse the hell out of my rig and could care less about vibrations.

Even when brand new, the stock mounts are soft and allow alot of deflection. Some people prefer a tighter connection and Brown Dog rubber mounts do that. Replacing the stock mounts with bushings that hardly deflect at all and a similar trans mount will result in a minimal gain in vibrations (only felt at idle and it's very minor) and a noticeable improvement in throttle response and an overall tighter feel to the vehicle.

I run BD rubber mounts, a Savvy trans mount/xmember, poly body mounts and Currie JJ's at all suspension ends....nice, tight, quiet and responsive. Much more so than stock. Getting rid of stock rubber isn't always a bad thing.
