Quadratec goof-up

Never again! Ok maybe theyre not 100% to blame. Perhaps they were overwhelmed with the 4 giftcards i was trying to use up. Wont get into the details of it. Bottom line one of those cards didnt go thru for some reason but they could have called me or emailed me to let me know there was a snafu but got nothing instead. For THAT there is NO excuse. Had i not bothered to check the balance i may have never known the deal didnt go thru till next week when id recieved nothing. Ended up putting the remainder on my own credit card just so things wouldnt get further screwed up. They even wanted me to call back afterward to get the forum discount? WTH no thanks!!

I assume that you ordered on line? The order confirmation email did not indicate that there was a problem?

The last part confuses me. They offered you the forum discount, but you thought it was too much trouble to call them?

So, you screwed up the order by paying with a gift card that didn't have adequate funds and you're pissed at Quadratec? Sounds reasonable.

If I had 4 gift cards I rather give them a call, people should try it once in awhile, go figure talking to a person.

Yep. OP sure showed them. I never heard of an online order getting screwed. An 800 number where you call and talk to a person to get it corrected??? Whoever heard of that?

Apparently reading is a lost art. I never once said anything about ordering online. It was over the phone. And no, all the gift cards given had the full funds available. They wanted me to inquire about the forum discount AFTER wanting to run my credit card. How does tht make any sense. I feel there may be some quadratec loyalist in here. Yes I did show them. They won’t be getting any more business from me and that’s all that matters.

That was most likely my fault for assuming that the order was placed on line. It didn't make sense that if talking to a live person that there would be an issue with payment, hence your frustration I'm sure. I felt that a post such as this was pretty harsh since they have taken steps to correct the issue. Should they have called you back after the transaction failed....absolutely. Should you completely write off a company that does a lot to support our community and flame them on the internet. Not so much.

So one out of four cards didn't go thru. We can't ever know how that affected the whole transaction, can we? So, we should blame the vendor for not calling you back? What's your point of contact they have? We don't know that either or, even if it is correct on their end. Did you verify that on the second call?

Yea, I hate calling and begging for discounts too after the transaction, sure! Happy to say, I have never had that kind of experience with Quadratec.


I guess you called them back and ran your credit card even after getting such great service just to show them right? Did ya hunt down the exact person you dealt with in the beginning too? I do, I like hearing the shaking, crackly voice knowing I am there.

Quadratec isn't perfect and I have a friend who is actually a QTec dealer who can confirm it.

Recently, he had an issue with them telling him certain parts were compatible when in fact they weren't (Alloy USA ball joints with RCV axle shafts). After several phone calls and damaged parts, they refunded the incompatible ball joints, replaced the damaged RCV boots and got him the right ball joints for his D44 in a TJ. It really shouldn't have got to this but in the end, they made it right.

Not all QTec reps are good but once you find the right person, they are a good company to deal with as my story above shows. However, it shouldn't take finding the right person.

Personally, I have not had a problem with them. They have promptly shipped most of my orders and the ones that couldn't be promptly shipped, I was informed. Their return policy is great and of course, the forum discount helps. I almost always call them, it is usually more reliable than online.

I don't order from Quadratec here on the west coast because of their shipping practices. Their price based shipping quotes and if I have to return something I have to pay for it (thats just how they do business but there are other options here where I don't have to do that). Having worked in retail and taking multiple forms of payments over the phone, keeping them all in order can be a problem but you just make sure everything goes through and works before you hang up with the customer.

What separates a good business from a not so good business is how they handle unhappy customers.

In my experience maybe 1%-2%-3% of customers have unrealistic expectations and nothing you do will ever satisfy them. By contacting the rest, and honestly listening and wanting to help, you may or may not save the business relationship, but you've done the right thing by them.
I find most folks are reasonable and a sincere apology along with correcting the issue can keep a customer and create greater customer loyalty.

I have never had that happen. That sounds like an issue with the person taking the order not knowing the process.
I have also found that working directly with Rob tends to work really well. The people manning the phones don't always know. I have had great luck working with Rob, and Rick. I do order over the phone on occasion, but sometimes it is easier to just order over the internet and accept that you won't get the forum discount. I do wish they would work it out so you could get the forum discount over the internet as some other vendors have.
I have had issues where something went wrong with an order from Quadratec. But I have never had a situation where Quadratec would not make it right once I contacted them.

I wouldn't call myself a Quadratec loyalist, but I am a happy customer. I like that they reached out to you publicly here to make it right. I hope they earn your business back.

Cheeses rice! I was just venting some are you seem ready to come after me with torches and pik axes. I had a few gift cards I had that I wanted to use up. I gave specific amounts to withdraw from each card. All rounded to the nearest dollar. Something like 75,50,25,9 IIRC. Total was supposed to be $159. In the end I was “short” $50. Pay attention this is where it gets tricky. I never received a phone call nor an email stating I was short. It was a phone call order. I gave them my phone number as well as email. They read me back the card numbers with expiration dates and the amounts to be cashed. Later on that day I checked the balances on those gift cards and not all had been cashed. When I called to inquire I was told it was $50 short. I asked why I wasn’t notified he said “I don’t know” needless to say I was a little pissed. Hope this clears up any of the questions. Will I use qtec again? Let’s see who will be the first one to bitch about changing the title of this post to “maybe I will use Qtec again” Maybe, I suppose everybody deserves a second chance. So all you in the closet loyalist can just relax have a beer and curse my name so you can sleep better. To the Qtec person here: never mind it’s all water under the bridge. Shit you guys make me wanna spark up a bowl! 💡

We will note your account in our system that you are a forum member. As long as you order on that same account you will receive that forum discount after the order is placed on the website. We have a representative that manually looks at each and every order that is placed online. They will see that your account is marked as forum and apply the discount for you and you will receive that discounted price in the order details email.
