My 95 YJ started cutting out between 3,000 and 4,000 RPMS. I thought maybe the throttle body was all gummed up so I took it off, cleaned it good with throttle body cleaner and put it back on. Seemed to fix the issue for about a day then it started cutting out at all RPMS. The only way to make it not cut out and backfire is to keep the RPMS under 2,000.

I changed out the following last night:
Cap
Rotor
Plugs
Wires
Fuel Filter
Air Filter
Oil
Oil Filter

Still doesn't fix the issue.

Any ideas?

check fuel rail pressure. other things TPS, crank sensor, cam sensor, map sensor. I'd start with fuel pressure, check map sensor vacuum, but I think it will be the crank sensor.

My guess would probably be the bad crank sensor..

I also removed the Cat and Muffler recently - just so you know everything.
Psstt... It's a Federal Crime to remove emissions equipment, and posting about such things is forbidden on this website ;)

Crank Sensor

There is no Cam Position Sensor for my Y/M/M.

Going to check fuel rail pressure tonight as well as replace the MAP Sensor, Throttle Position Sensor and the Crank Position Sensor.

I will let you ll know how it goes.

Your cam positioning sensor is located in the front of the trans on the bell housing. Should be towards the top on the drivers side. It is basically a magnet that senses a notch in the flywheel as it spins. This shouldn't cause backfire however. The TPS sensor is on the backside of the throttle body. This will cause a fluctuation of RPM's and a stall as you come to a stop; deffinitely will cause back fire. Your distributor may need an adjustment also. Put a timing light on it before you spend a few hundred in parts. Good Luck! Hope this helps.
