My 98 jeep is getting horrible gas mileage and idles way to high and at times will stall when I try to restart it either doesn't start or when it does it will miss and backfire I've changed the plugs wire's cap and rotar also was told the tps would make it do that so I changed that and it idles around 1500 TO 2000 RPM NOW AND WHEN I hooked a scan tool up it says mp tps is at 19.00 when the butterfly is closed any suggestions I'm ready to pull my hair I miss my jeep just can't trust it at the moment not to leave me stranded

High idle conditions are caused by vacuum leaks 99% of the time. I would start looking for vacuum leaks.oh and I would put the original TPS back on. Swinging parts that are not known to be bad causes you to have a hard time figuring out the real problem. Often times parts house sensors are bad straight out of the box.
