So I installed some tweeters in my dash kinda like they do in a jk. I drilled a hole in my dash and mounted them there. But they hurt my ears. It's so high pitched I can literally feel my ear drumbs rattle. I'm sick and tired of it. I cut the crossovers off and it helped some but it's still loud.

Do I need to buy a crossover? My amp kinda has one but I assume its shitty.

The tweeters are Alpine SPR-10TW
The amp is Alpine PDX-V9

Hmmmmmm......did you crank the high frequency bands too high in the eq? How many channels is the amp? How are the tweeters wired? If the tweeters are wired on their own channel, try setting fade more to the rear.

The freq hasn't been touched. The amp is 5 channels. The tweeters are on their own channel but I plan on putting 4 tweeters in so the fade kinda defeats the purpose.

Look into proper crossovers. I can't help here since my system does not have any. Hopefully someone else can offer more advice.

You said you adjusted the crossovers that came with the tweeters to -6dB, right? What channels are your tweeters wired into and are there other speakers wired into the same channels? Are you using two channels, or are they both going into one?

The crossovers that came with the tweeters should be your best match, so I don't think your issue is the crossover - the wrong one would allow certain frequencies to pass that the tweeter can't handle, so it wouldn't really influence volume level, more just the sound quality. I would think you either have too many speakers wired into one channel, which would pull more power than previously, or your gains are set too high.

I think I've fixed it. I turned the gains all the way down so I think I fixed it. Sounds a hell of a lot better.
