So went wheeling for the frist time since august on a trail that I have ran over 30 times with very little breakage.

Any way we make it to the third obstical and carnage caynon outside of boulder and I start goofing around aon a 3 1/2 foot rock, when my rear locker breaks then my points out that my radiator is pouring out fluid. So shut her down and open the hood and see that my fan went through the very bottom of the radiator. Then I see that my Tie rod is not straight anymore. So we strap my jeep to the start of the trail the coast down to the Highway where we have cell phone service and call a buddy witha truck and trailer to come get me.

So now starts my winter rebuild which will be, pull the locker and weld the rear end, new radiator, new motor mounts, and custom stearing. As soon as my buddy emails me the pics I will post them.

I think there was some posts a while ago about some upgrade options for your radiator. No sense putting a stocker back in there.

Nice work boss. You f'd everything up real good. To kill your steering, cooling, and drive train all on the same trail. Welcome to the Wheel, Break, Fix....Repeat

You know I wouldn't imagine that you all have too much of a cooling issue up there in the Rockies. I would think either fixing or replacing your stock radiator would work out just fine for you. Have you ever had any problems with it before?

I am sure a stock radiator would do just fine, but I just can't replace parts with stock parts. Any breakage is a good time for an upgrade. In the case of the radiator, I found that if you want to do some fabricating you can do it for the same price as stock or cheaper.

I have broken stuff before but never to the point that I couldn't limp it home.

I have never had problems with the radiator before, it gets hot here in the rockies in the summer so there is a little bit of a cooling issue but because its winter now its time to do a winter rebuild.

Radiator

As far as the radiator goes, I would highly suggest checking out the one offered at www.dpgoffroad.com. I got it and so far it is great. It is only $165 and appears to have been made very well! And no more of that plastic crap!

Here's a few good proven sources for inexpensive all-metal radiators... www.radiatorbarn.com/ and www.radiators.com/ Stick with a two row model, they are more efficient at cooling in low-speed Jeeping conditions than a three row model. Bigger water channels together with more space between them is the reason the two row does a bit better. :)

I got a new one through the shop i used to work at for $135. Jerry I see that your from escondido, my brother just moved there he has a white tj on 37 inch krawlers, full cage, no fenders and colo. plates. Have you seen him driving around?

Haven't noticed that particular Jeep yet but I'll keep an eye out for it and say 'hi' if he's stopped. Lots of Jeeps and good wheeling around here, a good thing. :)
