I live in Tucson AZ and I went to my local 4x4 parts suppy and was qouted this for a lift kit for my 97 Jeep TJ wrangler. I have 32" Jeep JK Rubicon Tires and plan on running spacers for them from 5x4.5 to 5x5.

I was qouted 500$ for a RE 3 inch lift kit with springs and coils
I was also qouted 240$ for a RE 2 inch lift with springs
I was qouted 200$ for the installation of these kits.

Do you think this is a fair offer? I am a college student and don't have the space or time too lift it myself, but I am short on cash and cheap as hell.

The install price seems about right but I'm not familiar with those lifts. I am assuming those lifts comes with shocks and coils. I would recommend sticking with the 2" lift for your budget and less chance for vibes and additional costs associated going to 3". If you want to stay cheap and maintain the stock ride, look into a budget boost 2" spacer lift and throw in a 1" bodylift along with some longer shocks.

First.. the RE bareones economy kit in 2" is a coil spacer NOT springs and comes with shocks.. RE doesn't make a 3"....they make 3.5", 4.5" and 5.5" suspensions. If they are giving you a 3.5" suspension for that price.... I can bet my next paycheck, you will have to buy shocks as RE doesn't supply shocks automatically with the 3.5" ( it could be a distributor add-on ) and not at that price either.

Im not going to do a whole bunch of research, but this will give you an idea.....

2" Economy kit is around $400

Rubicon Express 2" Economy Kit with Mono Tube Shocks for 97-06 Jeep® Wrangler TJ & Unlimited - Quadratec

The standard 3.5" RE lift is $555-600 ballpark... no shocks...

BTW.. don't mistake other brands that look like they are RE because of powdercoating ( close to same color ) Tough Country comes to mind.

As far as installation.... it's not that hard with a basic kit and common handtools, floorjack, about 2- 3 ton jackstands, 2- 6 ton jackstands air compressor and a few ramps. Plus you can learn from it.

$200 for labor isn't bad to be honest, but I wouldn't pay ( I didn't ) and had a blast doing it myself.
