Just did the MyGig software update for my radio. Saw some other threads focused on UConnect. Obviously this is a separate update, thought I'd post findings here.

To update:
  1. Downloaded v2.700 software here: http://mygig-disk.com/download-rhr. The file is ~2.2 GB, so expect 20+ minutes for download.
  2. Opened the .iso file (Windows 10) by clicking on it. You may need to use WinZip or 7-Zip if your version of Windows won't open .iso files.
  3. Inserted a 14 GB USB drive, and in another window formatted as a single partition and FAT. I used the free utility SDFormatter (https://kb.sandisk.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/14827/~/using-sd-formatter-tool-to-restore-full-capacity-on-sdhc%2Fsdxc-cards) from SanDisk, as the built-in windows format was giving errors. Very straightforward to wipe and format in under 30 seconds. Ignore the popup saying it's for SD cards. That's what's inside USB sticks.
  4. Grabbed all contents inside the .iso file and copied onto USB drive. Took 30mins to write. Ejected drive. Took to Jeep & inserted USB inside armrest USB port while Jeep was off.
  5. Started Jeep (engine running), nothing happens on radio for 2-4 minutes, then popup appears asking to confirm if I want to update software to v2.700. Click YES. Watch as files start to copy to Jeep.
I drove around and got coffee, left Jeep running at Dunkin Doughnuts and when came back, had another popup asking if I wanted to update from v2.7 to v2.7, I clicked "No" as obviously the update finished, then read the USB stick and just prompted me again like I was starting over.
Update complete! Pull out USB drive, enjoy!
Note this is the radio software update. Everything looks same to me, same blue background. Don't yet know of any new features. Others tell me the radio feels faster.

You might have an update for Gracenotes database, which is the software that shows Album art when you're playing music. To see the version you have, on the radio go to Menu >> Setup >> System Info or hit the SPEAK button and say "software update" - you'll get taken to one screen with all your software versions. The latest Gracenotes for the 730N RHR is version 6168.

You can download Gracenote updates for free, here (scroll to bottom for "SOX Downloads"): http://mygig-disk.com/download-rhr

Some folks here (see other threads recently) have found an update to the Hands Free Module ("HFM") issued via UConnect here. As I don't have the "hands free" buttons on the left side of my steering wheel, I didn't have any update for UConnect. Might try entering your VIN to check for that.

Hope this helps! I can answer any questions. If you find anything different/new/issues please report back.

Software update is available for all model radios.

Same for Gracenotes (though current v6168 came out a while ago).

UConnect update is new...but model-specific...not all radios needed the UConnect HFM module update. I don't know which got it.

Currently updating to 2.7 after modifying the files slightly. Changed the sound and voice prompts to my own. After this Im going to be looking into adding features such as changing the color scheme. Fingers crossed!

I ordered the 2017 North American map update from "Here" for my 2012 RHR -- I was tired of not having a lot of local roads displayed on the Nav. It came with the 2.700 firmware update. So I installed that firmware update first. After installing the update, I had to pull the J10 fuse to reset the head unit because there was no sound or audio settings available. Now I have sound, but the display locks up almost immediately after starting my Jeep. Radio/Satellite still work, but the display refuses to update. The only way to get it working again is to pull the J10 fuse -- but the next time I start the vehicle, it locks up again. Anyone else having this problem?

Hi Gort,

Sorry to hear about this, if you would like to send me a PM with your VIN I'd be happy to look into this further for you.

Ive been trying to update my hands free update from the Uconnect webpage. I down loaded from my mac straight to a FAT32 4GB USB drive and I can't even get it to update. Tried several different ways to get it to start, no luck. I don't want to take it to the dealer but I think I might as well.

You tried from Mac os?

It doesn't work. I'm convinced. I tried from my Macbook Pro, no luck.

I used my son's Windows 10 laptop and I was able to update Uconnect and the Garmin software following the instructions (carefully) on a 2014 RHB.

I am also having trouble with the uconnect updating I have a 730n... My Gig and gracenotes updated no problem, I am going to try and disconnect battery as per the instructions and will let you know if that fixes it........ Disconnected battery did not help, will not let me access "Setup- Software update"

I have a 32gig USB that is formatted to 32FAT only thing on the usb is the uconnect.upn that I downloaded from the site.

If anyone cares (and judging by the number of replies to my post, nobody does) the solution was to simply replace the hard disk drive in the head unit. The original one was apparently a POS -- replaced it with an automotive-grade HDD. No need to spend thousands on a new head unit, as I'm sure the dealership would recommend.

Mygig REZ FM-MW dissapear

Im having troubles with my REZ, the FM-MW radio simply desappear, theres no frecuencies and no presets also, any other option like HD, CD, Aux, Ipod options works fine... I can only get the Radio back on when I disconnect the negative from the battery.

Any clues? it is very desapointing, I already update with mygig to the lates software.

Thanks so much!
