I just received my nalin brackets to fir the 5.25 in speakers in the dash. I know for my 2001 TJ some metal needs to be cut for them to fit. My question is for those of you with the older TJs like mine that required metal to be cut, how much of that metal column in the dash do you cut? Do I just cut the whole thing off at the top and bottom? Help greatly appreciated as my speakers arrived today and would like to install them ASAP. Thanks

i don't have an answer, but I have my speakers, and my brackets are supposed to show up today as well, so I'm interested in the responses.

I just cut the inner piece off at top and bottom with a pair of tin snips .

I posted a similar question in the communications forum. I got my hands on some of the newer factory speakers for the front that are in the pods. They are in great shape and sound way better than the stock ones my 98 had. But I have the same problem with the metal inside there. So I too will be hoping for a response to your question.

Got mine installed today, and what a difference..:thumb: Maybe it had something to do with the fact that the paper on the old stock ones wasn't even attached to the frame any more...

Dash speaker replacement

Guys,

I just replaced my dash speakers with a pair of Infinity Kappa 462.11cfp 4"x6" plate units, sourced from Crutchfield. They came with free speaker brackets and pigtail adapters. Eveything fit perfectly, and I had them swapped out in about 15 minutes.
