Hello there. I have a 2012 jku dozer around June 15th i had to get it towed to my local dealership because it hit by lightning (indirectly). I was told earlier this month that they should get the abs module in and hopefully have it done. Well i called yesterday to check on it and was told that they still havent gotten the part and it now is estimated to get to them August 24th!!! I think that is just ridiculous! They guy i talked to informed me that there wasnt nothing i could do but just wait. So ill have to pay another payment or two for a jeep i cant drive. Fellow jeep owners is there anybody i can call or do that would hopefully get this process sped up? I mean its a 2012 brand new and he said nobody in the US
has the part. Also i might add the dealership would or did not have any loaners. Comments and suggestions if yall have any please.

Welcome to my nightmare. I manage a fleet of several dozen vehicles and pieces of equipment - getting a Estimated Delivery Date that is several months away and can get worse at any time is the unfortunate reality of competing for parts that are going elsewhere (the production line, in this case) at a higher priority.

I hope someone is able to help you out here...sorry to hear about the lightning strike.

I'd think that somewhere in the US a salvage yard as a '12 with a perfectly good abs module in it. Of course you'd have to pay out of pocket for a used part without a warranty, but it's an option

Good news = the lightening only took out the jeep
Bad news = the jeep is still down for the count.

Sorry to hear. I'm not sure what I'd do in this situation.

Thank yall for commenting. Im just so discusted and disappointed. Theres no reason i think it should take that long for a part.

If it's the dealer you bought it from and they happen to have a 12 on the lot, you can try, and I mean try, to get them to take the one on the lot out to get you on the road and they could wait for the part, not you. Highly unlikely in this case cause of the wait time but you never know. Tell them they would get high HIGH remarks from everone on this board. Just a shot.

If it's the dealer you bought it from and they happen to have a 12 on the lot, you can try, and I mean try, to get them to take the one on the lot out to get you on the road and they could wait for the part, not you. Highly unlikely in this case cause of the wait time but you never know. Tell them they would get high HIGH remarks from everone on this board. Just a shot.
Good suggestion but unforunately its not the same dealership. Thanks anyway.

Well I just checked and the dealer is not lieing to ya. There is 123 of those sitting on a trailer somewhere in Detroit waiting to be unloaded and dispersed to where they need to go. Out of the 123 there is already about 90 or so already spoken for for one reason or another. So the August 24th date sounds about right for them to recieve it. Sorry, I tried. Junk yard is your best bet if needed now or the dealer swapping one out with one on the lot.

Did you guys see the picture of the JK called "stomper"? Was hit by a tornado, looked like it had been rolled a dozen times, the guy was able to get in it and it started, he used it to save people that day...! Weird they're not lightning proof? What about EMP proof?

Stomper just went through a tornado hit, damage was physical and external more or less. A lightning strike can burn through the center of wires, fry electronics, and case unseen repairs to be done.

I run the sales department at a dealership and this idea is one I use quite frequently to solve some issues. Just yesterday, we delivered a new 370 (yes I manage a Nissan store) and I took a part off of it to replace with the customers. So, if you ask nicely (I usually don't help screaming customers the way I do nice loyal ones:whistling:) you should be able to make that happen. Especially if they have more than one particular trim/color combo.
