My budy who owns a 97 tj with a 4" skyjacker lift sitting on 33"s, blew his whole differental, every thing inside is mangeled, we are going to need new ring and pinion, bearings and all...and we'll be putting a locker in now also.

We were able to put it in first gear and leave the e-brake on and watch the driveshaft sit their and spin with no movement in the rear.... Took the diff cover off and everything was fffffed up

Its a 4cyl 2.4l, 5spd,.......we think its a dana 35, not sure, the tag on the diff cover was removed by the previous owner and no one has a clue what gear he's running or such, I'm not all that familiar with gearing myself...

If someone could hook me up with some info on basicly what we need, and the best place to find it a.s.a.p.

Okay to start off with, if if blew unlocked its going hurl if you lock it. Unless, you upgrade the shafts to some 30 spline. I would check the following places out.

I would Also look into getting newer used rear end, such as a dana 44 from a Tj at: places http://www.car-parts.com
Lots of good stuff on there.

if it was the 2.5 with the dana 35 and a 5spd it should have 4.11's.

I agree, should be 4.11. I know this is a plug, but, I have a used super 35 kit (detroit, dual pattern alloy axles, for 3.73 up ratios, all you would need is brgs and an R&P). PM if interested. I upgaded to a D44. Anyway, good luck.

X2 It sounds like your entire rear end is done, and fixing it would be expensive, unless you can find a really good deal on a super 35, ring, pinion, etc. Here's my .02, I vote for buying a new axel. If you have time and do your research, you could probably junkyard one much stronger than the 35, with a locker or LSD, propper gearing, and disc brakes already installed, for much less than rebuilding the 35, which will probably just break again. This will take longer, but if you can afford the down time, a disc brakes and locker or LSD would be worth it. Oh yeah, you can verify your gearing by checking the front Diff.

Thanks for the help... We have all the parts but they gave us the wrong housing, should have the right one in by monday or tuesday...

Now I have to worry about mine, I blew apart my yoke and part off transfer case... but thats another story
