Went wheeling today I was letting a buddy drive who has a little heavier foot than I while going up a rock waterfall there was a loud clunk that came front, we got out and inspected what we could see everything was in tact, as we continued we noticed every time we were climbing an obstacle if one of the front wheels slipped it would clunk again also if we went in reverse and braked it would clunk we put it 2 wheel drive and no issues , can anyone help to identify what this issue may be?

I'd check all the front control arm bolts for proper torque, a dry steer test probably wouldn't hurt, check track bar both ends, and inspect the front drive shaft (u-joints & connections at both ends) for good measure.
Sway bar links too....
Control arm checked out ok

Odds are you have a bad u joint in the front shaft. Do you have locking hubs?
I do not have locking hubs, Looking at the front ujoint there is no play in them

Driveshaft u joints or front diff. Most likely driveshaft u joints.
the Drive shaft ujoints were replaced 4 month ago

Thank for the advice I'm going to jack it up tomorrow to see if it might be the ball joints.
